Idle at home, packing up the bookcase, I stumbled upon Emily Brontë's Wuthering Heights.

Re-reading this book now, through that frustrated love, what I feel most deeply can be attributed to the following two points:
The heroine of the story, Catherine, is a proper white rich beauty, she and the adopted abandoned child Heathcliff are young and bamboo horses, but because of their lust for money, social status and a comfortable life, they have become traitors to their feelings.
Often, people have to pay some price to get something.
Catherine sacrificed not only her own love, she also had to hide her true personality in the Thrush Villa, pretending to be polite, elegant and noble.
After marriage, although Edgar was accommodating to her, happiness was only an illusion on the surface, and she was not happy.

He hated the unfair world, and he hated everyone but Catherine. He retaliated not only against Hendry, who had persecuted him and taken away his beloved Edgar, but also Edgar's sister Isabella, and even the next generation of Wuthering Heights and Thrush, including his own son, Linton The Younger.
As a father, he did not have the slightest love and affection for Xiaolindun, he hated Xiaolindun's sick body and cowardly personality, he regarded it as a pawn for revenge, and after hearing the news of his death, he remained indifferent and ate as usual.
This is Heathcliff, a crazy man who loves and hates.
However, when he realized his grand plan and pocketed the property of the two manors, he did not have the slightest pleasure.
He was like a fighter who had lost his goal, in a trance, without food, unable to sleep at night. And when he saw the love in Harrington and Little Catherine's eyes, he seemed to see himself and Catherine.
At the end of the story, Heathcliff dies of a bitter love affair with Catherine and dies permanently on a rainy night.
But as Emily writes at the end:
Watching the moths fluttering among the heather and the bluebells, listening to the gentle breeze blowing through the grass, I thought to myself, who would have thought that under such a peaceful land, the people who sleep here are not at peace.
Even death did not put Heathcliff's soul in peace, and the hatred in his heart did not dissipate.
Heathcliff made me see the unforgettable love, but it was also because of this love that I could not help but be heartbroken, and he easily went to the other extreme.
In general, Heathcliff is a poor and pathetic man, his pity lies in the betrayal of his beloved, and his sadness is that he does not know how to let go of the past, does not know how to reconcile with himself.
How similar Haridon in the story is to Heathcliff, who was originally the heir of Wuthering Heights, but was persecuted by Heathcliff and became a slave, not only poor food, poor housing, no books, and endless hard work every day.
But not only did Harrington not hate Heathcliff, but his heart was filled with sympathy and pity. Although life was hard, he had a generous and benevolent heart, and it was because of this that he went to a very different life from Heathcliff.
Harrington not only read and read with the help of little Cathy, became a veritable gentleman, but also gained love. After Heathcliff's death, the two inherited the property of the two hills and lived a peaceful life in Thrush Hill.
