Peking Opera "Jiangnan First Dan" Huang Guiqiu's 1947 "Spring and Autumn Match" precious record recording

Huang Guiqiu (1906-1978), known as Dequan, ZiyinQing, self-proclaimed Guiyin Xuan, Anhui Anqing, was born in Beijing. Peking Opera performance artist, founder of Danjiao Huangpai. "Huang Guiqiu" is the name of his sister, borrowed as a stage name. The person with the same name is also the vice president of the Guangxi Ethnic Minority Language Society.

After graduating from high school in 1924, he worked in the Railway Bureau. He once took tickets in Beijing and Tianjin as a ticket holder. In 1927, he officially studied under Chen Delin and often performed with Ma Lianliang, Yu Shuyan, Gao Qingkui, Yang Xiaolou and so on. At that time, the best plays were "Spring and Autumn Matching", "Beigong Sacrifice River" and so on. Later, Huang went to the south and won the title of "Jiangnan First Dan" with "Beigong Sacrifice River". During his stay in Tianjin, Huang often rehearsed new Peking opera plays with Wang Yusheng, Zhang Shuyun, Ma Yanhong, etc., such as "Butterfly Cup", "Swallow Notes", "Dou Xianniang", etc., which laid a certain foundation for his later new plays such as "Three Laughs of Autumn Fragrance", "Hatred of Unjust Birds", "Empress Jiang", "Whipping Luhua", "Liang Hongyu" and so on. In 1936, Huang Guiqiu organized the Zhengyi Travel Theater Troupe, left Beijing and Tianjin, performed all over the country, and settled in Shanghai in 1941. Huang's voice is sweet, emphasizing Huguang rhyme on the basis of "Chen Cavity", and paying attention to skills in the pronunciation of words. Soon, with a unique artistic style, it became famous in Jiangnan and was known as the "Yellow School". Since 1963, he has taught opera at the Shanghai Peking Opera House. He died in Shanghai in 1978. Huang Guiqiu had many disciples, including Yan Huizhu, Li Yuru, Tong Zhiling, Wang Xichun, Cao Huilin, jin Suwen and so on.

Later, Huang went to the south and won the title of "Jiangnan First Dan" with "Beigong Sacrifice River". In addition to performing masterpieces such as "Spring and Autumn Matching", "Beigong Sacrifice River", and "Dismissal of the Trial", he also choreographed and performed Peking operas such as "Empress Jiang", "Unjust Bird Hate", "Dou Xianniang", "Lucheng Hero" and other dramas. In 1941, he settled in Shanghai and often performed with Ji Yuliang, Yu Zhenfei, Jiang Miaoxiang, Li Shengbin, Zhao Tongshan, Li Baoxun, etc., and received cooperation and help from Zhou Xinfang. In 1942, Huang Guiqiu and Zhou Xinfang performed jointly for 54 days at the Shanghai Golden Grand Theatre, and Zhou Xinfang greatly appreciated Huang Guiqiu's singing level, saying: "Your singing is unique, you can really become a school of its own", and sure enough, soon "Spring and Autumn Matching" was recognized as the first masterpiece of Huang Pai. Later, the two cooperated four times. Zhou Xinfang has repeatedly starred Liu Bingyi in "Triage" and Li Qi in "Horse Trafficker" for Huang Guiqiu. Since then, it has gradually become known as the "yellow faction". After the victory of the War of Resistance Against Japan, he performed at the Shanghai Empress Theatre for a long time, often performing plays such as "Spring and Autumn Matching" and "Beigong Sacrifice river", which were well received by the audience, especially the one to eight copies of "Yanmen Guan", starring in the role of the princess, for several months, and could not stop, and was praised by the audience as "chief of Qingyi" and "the first in Jiangnan". He used to work as a teacher in Fulian Cheng's science class as Tsing Yi and Hua Dan. After liberation, he cooperated with Zhou Xinfang again to perform plays such as "Qin Xianglian" and "Wen Tianxiang". Successfully shaped the characters of Qin Xianglian and Lady Wen. In 1949, he organized the Qiusheng Peking Opera Troupe and served as its leader. The troupe has successively included Wang Qinsheng, Chen Dahao, Guan Zhengming, Zhang Wenjuan, Chi Shigong, Wang Yurang, Wang Jinlu, Huang Zhengqin, Yan Shixi and other actors, who have performed in Jiangsu, Hubei, Anhui, Shandong, Tianjin, Beijing, Northeast, Shaanxi, Jiangxi, Zhejiang and other places. In 1958, he joined the Shanghai Xinmin Peking Opera Troupe, and later entered the Shanghai Peking Opera House with the troupe. In the near future, he also performed dramas such as "Jinshui Bridge" and all "Spring and Autumn Matching". In 1962, the Shanghai Peking Opera House held a special performance of Zi Huang Pai art.
