The blue-throated bee tiger is mainly distributed in southeastern Yunnan, southern Guangxi, Guangdong, Hainan Island (resident birds), Fujian and other southern regions, and sometimes extends north to Hunan, Jiangxi, and even to southern Henan. Birds are uncommon in the area south of the Yangtze River, very rare in the wild, and they have higher requirements for the ecological environment.
Studies have shown that blue-throated bee tigers have special requirements for their habitat environment, mainly in the nesting ground. In the south of China, the blue-throated bee tiger does not lack food sources - bees, butterflies, dragonflies insects, but its nesting place is usually selected in the river beach environment with a fine sand matrix, these natural river beach environment is very easy to be destroyed, suitable for the change of the nesting environment, will lead to the local blue-throated bee tiger population can not reproduce normally, the number of sharply reduced, and even disappear.
In August this year, the staff of the Jiulian Mountain National Nature Reserve in Jiangxi Province found that the blue-throated bee tiger "double-clicked" appeared in jiulian mountain during their daily patrols, and constantly recorded it with photography. The appearance and disappearance of birds is an important indicator of whether the ecology is good or bad, the beautiful ecological environment of the Jiulian Mountain Nature Reserve provides good conditions for the summer migratory birds that come to inhabit here, and the protection awareness of the people in the surrounding areas is constantly enhanced, attracting many beautiful summer migratory birds blue-throated bee tigers to breed here.
In recent years, the ecological protection measures of Poyang Lake have been appropriate, providing good conditions for summer migratory birds to roost here, and the awareness of migratory bird protection in the area around Poyang Lake has been enhanced, and rare birds have been continuously discovered. Since being spotted in the area in 2011, blue-throated bee tigers have visited the shores of Poyang Lake every year.
