Rotterdam, the second largest city in the Netherlands and the largest port in Europe. As a sister city of Shanghai, it is also the end of the "Belt and Road" European line. Although it is only 80 kilometers away from the capital Amsterdam, it is not as golden as the capital, but industriousness and courage are also synonymous with the city. In recent years, with the integration of youth elements into the city, this industrial city has blown a small fresh wind of literature and art.
The feyenoord district south of the city is home to a loyal group of die-hard fans nicknamed the het legioen. They guard the city's football club named Feyenoord, and today they took you to the stadion feyenoord, the venue of the Final of Euro 2000.
The main stand of the Fayenoord Stadium and the exterior of the Maas House
Nicknamed "de kuip", the Fayenoord Stadium was built in 1937, and the club's president at the time, Leen van zandvliet, had a sudden flash of inspiration one day to come up with the prototype of a dream stadium, and he quickly drew his mind on a piece of scratch paper, which is the first draft of today's stadium.
Subsequently, he went abroad several times to select Highbury Stadium in London and Boston Red Sox Stadium in New York, and finally completed the design drawings of the stadium with the famous design teacher Van der Vlugt a few months later.
The stadium is most prominently distinguished by the integrated shape and the suspended grandstand that provides an exclusive view of the upper floor, and in the 1930s, four separate stands were the mainstream of the stadium design, and the design concept of this stadium can be described as a sense of the times. So much so that it provided a "blueprint" for the construction of the Camp Nou stadium behind.
With a capacity of 69,500 people, the stadium has always been the largest stadium in the Netherlands and the home of the Dutch national team. Beginning in the 1990s, the Netherlands began to focus on the construction and renovation of multi-purpose courses, followed by the emergence of the Amsterdam Arena and the Arnhem Garle Stadium, and the previously built Philips Stadium and Feyenoord Stadium were also remodeled.
After several renovations, the stadium has been reduced to 51,117 people today, and for safety reasons, the stadium can actually accommodate about 47,000 people, which is still the second largest stadium in the Netherlands, and one of the only two UEFA five planets in the Netherlands, the other is the Amsterdam Arena.
Today, many cities in the country have direct flights to Amsterdam Schiphol Airport in the Netherlands, and Schiphol Airport has four express trains per hour to Rotterdam Central Railway Station, which takes only 26 minutes and costs 14.8 euros one-way.
From Rotterdam Train Station, take tram 23 directly to the stadium, named stadion feyenoord, which costs €3.50 for 2 hours and €8 for a day.
If you are a friend who is driving, it is strongly recommended to park your car in the parking and exchange area (p+r:park and ride) outside the city, because the parking cost in the Netherlands is extremely high and the parking spaces are scarce, so p+r is the first choice for self-driving travel.
The nearest p+r beverwaard to the stadium can also be reached by tram 23, the same time to the stadium from the city centre (15 minutes).
After stepping off the tram and crossing the road, the north stand of the stadium comes into view. The main stand, named Maastribune, contains the chairman's box and vip box, which is designed to refer to the MLB's box design.
In front of the grandstand was built the Maasgebouw, which housed commercial facilities such as club offices, VIP reception rooms and team museums, and the interior of the Maas building had direct access to the Maas grandstand.
The stadium's oldest south stand is called the Olympiazijde tribune, and the outside of this grandstand leads directly to the Rotterdam stadion, which is closed on match days for better traffic diversion around the stadium.
Outside the South Stand of the Fayenoord Stadium
The exterior of the stadium is slightly more modest than the new stadium built in this century, the staircase leading to the upper grandstand sets the outside of the stadium, and the silver roof obviously looks much younger than the stadium. Other equipment such as lighting equipment is also installed later.
In May 2017, the Rotterdam MunicipalIty passed a resolution that the stadium will no longer be renovated, and that a feyenoord city will be built nearby, with the satellite city as the core of the stadium and the surrounding shopping and residential community as one living community. The new stadium will cost 365 million euros and will have a capacity of 65,000 people.
Although I have not watched an official ball game at this stadium, I have had two very special experiences here. And it just so happens that these two experiences are closely related to the club's legendary star Kuyt.
Panoramic view of the interior of the Fayenoord Stadium
On July 19, 2015, the annual Fan Open Day arrived as scheduled, not so much the Club Fan Open Day as the Fan Family Day, on this day Feyenoord's crowds set out as a family to block the day outside the stadium in the Fayenoord district of Rotterdam, because the first time to participate in such a fan day did not do special homework, resulting in the stadium broadcast when arriving at the stadium has been notified that the stadium is full, and there are still countless fans waiting outside the stadium.
At this time, looking back suddenly found that there was a direct access to the upper grandstand of the gate has not been closed by the staff, instantaneous three steps into two steps immediately rushed into the gate directly to the upper stand, after going around half a circle was finally allowed by a kind security guard to enter the stadium, at this time not only the seats are full, even the aisle has been blocked by the water leak, fortunately his height is not too much in the tall Dutch, smoothly found a perspective in the vast sea of people.
Although the open day is free admission, the content is not discounted at all, from the opening DJ to the subsequent singing performance, the atmosphere of the stadium has reached a peak in an instant. Then the players and coaches appeared in turn in the shouts of dj, watching the young fans in Feyenoord jerseys dancing and shouting the names of the heroes in their hearts, even if they were not fans of this club, it was still easy to be carried up by the surrounding atmosphere.
The climax of the event was Fayenoord's exclusive reserved program, a helicopter carrying new players from the new season to the center of the course lawn. The stadium's large screen broadcasts the inside and outside perspectives of the helicopter's take-off and flight.
As the distant roar of helicopters grew louder and louder, all eyes moved off the big screen to look up for helicopters flying in the distance, and as the target got closer and closer to the stadium, the deafening helicopter roar was accompanied by the shouts of more than 50,000 people in the stadium, allowing the Feyenoord district to reach the highest point of the day.
After a few laps over the pitch, the helicopter slowly landed in the middle of the course lawn. After the new recruits stepped out of the helicopter one after another, the live DJ may have shouted in his highest decibel voice of the day: "Who will be today's hero?" Dirk Kuyt once promised that he would one day come back here, and it was Dick Kuit who walked out of the cabin below", at this time the cheers and cheers of the scene rose and fell, although counted as a new signing, but for Kuyt himself was too familiar with the stadium and the crowd of this club.
At this time, each group of fans has a different mood: the older fans watch the children who have been out of the house for 9 years finally come home; the younger fans watch their former brothers return home; and the younger fans may only learn from their fathers about the glorious moments left by the former young hero on the stadium.
But everyone must have an expectation in their hearts: welcome the hero back, look forward to creating glory again. After Kuyt returned, he won a Dutch Cup for Feyenoord, and a Dutch League title that had been absent for 18 years, and Kuyt hung up his boots in 2017 with this brilliance. And how can the crowd allow their heroes to say goodbye in such a simple way, and the heroes also need to face to face with his supporters to officially say goodbye.
Kuyt retires the tournament
The next generation of the Dutch Golden Generation
The time came to May 27, 2018, this day seems to be no different from the day of the Fan Open Day three years ago, the same beautiful sunshine, the same dressed fans, the same grand atmosphere, but the flag hanging outside the stadium seems to remind everyone that three years ago we welcomed the hero back to this stadium, and today our hero wants to bid farewell to this stadium. I have to say that the guest list of Kuyt's retirement tournament can be described as full of friends.
Kuyt returns & Kuyt retires from the match
Dutch golden generations such as Sneijder, van Persie, van der Fart, van der Sar and other factors have arrived, Dutch celebrities such as Enfan Gaal, Koeman and Rijkaard have also come to the scene, as well as Kuyt Liverpool teammates who have broadcast the Champions League final in Kiev the night before: Gerrard, Carragher and Dudek, all of whom personally sent their deepest blessings to the Dutch stars who work hard and are simple and popular.
Kuyt and The Little Kuyts
The hot spot before the game is no longer a song and dance performance, but a "contest" between the golden generation of children, the fathers watch their children running on the court on the sidelines, laughing at each other's child performance, as if looking for their own childhood to chase their dreams.
Tiger father has no dogs, and the little Van Persie, the little van der Vaart, the little Sneijder and the little Kuyt on the field are not afraid of the stage, every move has the appearance of their own father, and in these children there is a faint hope for the revival of Dutch football.
A huge banner unfurled in the west stand of the stadium before the start, marking Kuyt's shot in the penalty area, draped in the Feyenoord No. 7 shirt. Maybe at this moment all the crowds in the field want to see the final scene of Kuyt breaking through into the box with the ball. Unfortunately, Van der Sar, who was standing opposite, did not want Kuyt and his surroundings to "get what he wanted", and there were sporadic "boos" after repeatedly saving Kuyt's shots, but they were replaced by laughter and applause, or van der Sar wanted Kuyt to play a little longer.
The finally amused referee gave Kuyt a penalty nearly 10 minutes of stoppage time, and his penalty was not rejected by Van der Sar, and then a whistle sounded kuyt's professional career to a perfect end. Kuyt then received the brooch from the mayor of Rotterdam as an honorary citizen of Rotterdam, and the "Hero of the City" was the biggest reward for Kuyt's entire career.
After retiring, Kuyt will not be far away from football, and the foundation named after him will help more people to associate with football in the future. When the song "You Will Never Walk Alone" sounded, the large banner in the West Stand was unfurled again, and Kuyt led his lover and children to the beloved Feyenoord Stadium for the last time.
At this moment, in addition to the vicissitudes left by the profession, there is also the satisfied smile that is enjoyed at this time. And the mood of the crowd at this moment is gathered on the big screen and finally hit "bedankt dirk" (thank you, Dirk).

The article begins by saying that Rotterdam has been blowing a fashion trend in recent years, saying that fashion architecture itself was the first to promote pencil houses and block houses located near oude haven. These two strangely shaped buildings attract countless tourists to take photos every day. Particularly special is the block house of 51 irregularly arranged yellow blocks, which was designed and built in 1984 by architect Piet Blom.
Now there are ordinary households here, and it is also the office of many famous design companies. Avant-garde design without losing practicality, here really want to give the designer a big thumbs up! The downtown a b c line gets off at blaak station.
postscript:
"Once a little boy
Now personable
Memories of the gentle face
It kept repeating itself in my head
Think more about freeze-frame time
Stop at the starting point of your dreams"
Kuyt performed the football story of "when the teenager left, returned to the hero, turned around the legend". Although not a gifted one, as a child of Rotterdam, he brought the industriousness and courage of rotterdam people to the greenery. As long as you have a dream, you should be brave enough to chase it. The spirit of never giving up and moving forward is synonymous with players like Kuyt. Maybe you don't think you have the talent of Messi, Neymar, Mbappe, but you can still find the key to success in players like Kuyt. I also believe that everyone who has played at the Feyenoord Stadium will create their own glory with this exclusive diligence and courage.
