In recent days, there have been many stories circulating on the Internet about the early life of Yan Ning, a professor at Princeton University and a foreign academician of the National Academy of Sciences, saying that she is a "talented woman in Tsinghua", but after three consecutive applications for academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences were rejected, she "finally abandoned the motherland and spent the American Academy of Sciences." These "Yan Ning's Past" released by the self-media, some are in the form of text, and some have been made into videos, but the plot is the same:
A "Tsinghua talented woman" who resolutely returned to China to show her ambitions after completing her studies in the United States, a scientist who was once regarded as the most accomplished scientist in China's young generation, and a doctor of biology whose academic career has been "opened" all the way, has been unsuccessfully elected as an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences for three consecutive times since 2015.
Although she was hit, she remained optimistic until she lost again in 2017. So she eventually chose to go overseas, returned to Princeton to teach, and spent time at the National Academy of Sciences, becoming a foreign member of the academy.
Some netizens obviously believed it, and in the comment area, they showed dissatisfaction and disdain, and some even sneered at Yan Ning, and even personally attacked Yan Ning.
In the early morning of Beijing time on the 25th, Yan Ning @nyouyou himself came forward to refute the rumors. She retweeted a representative video and then responded with two words, "nonsense," along with "nausea" and "contempt."

Yan Ning further explained that after participating in the voting of the National Academy of Sciences, he understood that in fact, staying at Tsinghua was easier to be elected as an academician of the National Academy of Sciences than going to Princeton. As for academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, it is a biennial "nomination" rather than an "application" spread online. First, Yan Ning did not lose the election of academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2015.
