This morning, the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering respectively announced the list of valid candidates for the 2023 co-optation of academicians. After deliberation at the 10th meeting of the Presidium of the Faculty of the 9th Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Party Group of the Chinese Academy of Sciences reviewed and confirmed 583 valid candidates for co-election of academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2023. After deliberation at the sixth meeting of the 8th Presidium of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, the Party Group of the Chinese Academy of Engineering reviewed and confirmed 655 valid candidates for the co-election of academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering in 2023.
According to the published list of valid candidates for co-optation of academicians, a total of 100 women were selected, the youngest of whom was 43 years old. Yan Ning of Tsinghua University, Shi Zhengli of Wuhan Institute of Virology and others were among them. The 45-year-old Yan Ning entered the list (Division of Life Sciences and Medicine), her work unit is Tsinghua University and Shenzhen Academy of Medical Sciences (preparation), and the recommendation is Academician Sui Senfang.
Yan Ning is a well-known structural biologist, a foreign academician of the National Academy of Sciences, and currently the president of Shenzhen Academy of Medical Sciences and the director of Shenzhen Bay Laboratory.
