However, in 2011, Wang Meng was expelled for participating in the infighting of the national team and was banned for up to 13 months. On the eve of the 2014 Winter Olympics, Wang Meng accidentally missed the competition due to injury, and then announced his retirement. From May 2018 to May 2020, Wang Meng worked as the coach of the Chinese short track speed skating team and is now far from the field.
