Bruno Fernandez is reportedly on the verge of signing a new five-year contract with Manchester United, with linking the star to the new terms seen as a "priority" for the club.
The Portugal international – who was recently joined by his compatriot Cristiano Ronaldo – is about to extend his stay at Old Trafford after reporting that Real Madrid and Barcelona are interested in him.

According to The Sun, the 27-year-old will agree to a new contract that will make him £250,000 a week, nearly £100,000 more than his current salary, and could be announced in the coming weeks.
Fernandez's new contract will tie him down until 2026, though his current contract expires in 2025 and he will receive a big pay raise.
Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano also claimed earlier this week that negotiations between Manchester United and Fernandez's agent "have been ongoing since July".

The journalist said "active discussions" had begun and the midfielder was said to be keen to stay at the club.
Romano added on Twitter that signing a new contract with his midfield partner Paul Pogba was seen as a "priority".
Pogba's contract expires at the end of the season, so United's eagerness to negotiate with the mysterious midfielder makes sense, with recent reports that Ronaldo's return has reversed the Frenchman's future and he is now "leaning" towards a contract extension.

Like Pogba, Fernandez has not allowed himself to slip after his performances last season, with the attacking midfielder scoring four goals in four league games this season.
