The Zen Temple behind the title Broken Mountain Temple

Constantly built

Enter the ancient temple in the early morning, and the first sun shines on the forest.

The winding path leads to a secluded place, and the Zen room is deep in flowers and trees.

The mountain light is pleasant to birds, and the shadow of the pond is empty.

All this is silent, but Yu Zhong chimes.

(1) Broken Mountain Temple: Improvised Fu Temple, in the north of Yushan Mountain in present-day Changshu County, Jiangsu Province. (2) Hou Zen Temple: That is, the place where the monks live. (3) Empty heart: refers to the removal of people's common thoughts. There used to be a hollow pavilion in the temple. 【Poetic】 Early in the morning I walked into the ancient monastery, and the rising sun shone high in the mountains. The path winds and winds into a secluded depth, with the Zen room hidden in a dense forest of flowers and trees. The beautiful landscape of the mountains is the world loved by birds, and the reflection in the pool makes people forget the ordinary dust. Everything fell silent, and only the sound of bells echoed in the mountains.

【Appreciation】

In the early morning, the sun came out, and under the shade of the tall trees, the ancient temple was still sleeping in the shadows, and it was quiet: the winding paths led people to more secluded places, and the Zen room was hidden among the flowers and trees. The light of the mountain makes the birds feel at ease, and those who have it in the hearts of the people can also imagine it; the shadow of the pond makes people forget all the distractions in their hearts; here all the silence can only hear the bells and the sound of the chimes - the sound of the bells and chimes makes the place more quiet.

Buddhism believes that everything that people see, hear, smell, taste, and touch in the earthly world looks colorful, but in fact it is an empty "virtual phase", and only by recognizing the nothingness of the worldly phases can we understand the nature of this world. Therefore, most of the monasteries for monks to practice are located in the mountains and forests far from the people. Here, the practitioner is able to eliminate the interference of the worldly appearance to the greatest extent possible and to contact the more real world. Visiting such a Zen temple is like entering another world, where the entrance is deep and tortuous, maintaining a considerable distance from the outside world, but after approaching, there are other caves, flowers and trees and houses inhabited by human beings are integrated, everything can face their original essence, and the human heart has also removed all kinds of shades, leaving only a piece of clarity.

The "poetry" is silent, bringing with it a profound Zen meaning, making people forget the distractions in the mind

At the end of the poem, the author creates a scene in which all things in heaven and earth suddenly become quiet, and only the Bell in the Zen Temple echoes leisurely in the ear. In fact, the sound between heaven and earth did not stop for a moment, but the visitor was completely quiet in the quiet and empty Zen temple, and understood the true meaning of Buddhism, so that any external interference could be eliminated, leaving only Zen haunting the mind. In this sense, this can also be said to be a work about Buddhist practice.

It can be seen from the poems that in addition to expressing the mountain scenery near the temple, the poet wrote poems, but also wanted to express his love for the landscape and his indifferent and quiet attitude towards life.
