Our ancestors first worked as working dogs in Northumberland Mining County, and sometimes as fighting dogs for workers.
The first ancestor identified as a Bellington Terrier, named Piper, was bred in 1825.
It is said that it was still very playful at the age of 14, although it was almost toothless and blind in both eyes.

We're not actually the kind of dog breed that's tough and fierce.
But when our ancestors were taken to fight by the miners,

In 1877, the National Bellington Terrier Club of England was established, making our people more and more "refined".
After 9 years, AKC registered the first Bellington Terrier.
Through hair styling, we looked like a little sheep in particular.
