Severn: "My hair can kill..."
When it comes to "Severn Ultraman," many people's first impression is the Round Valley Pro-Son series. In the Ultraman series, only Severn has produced an ova theatrical version. Severn x, only Severn has a son, and Severn transforms into Leo Ultraman, becoming the captain of the Earth Defense Force and Leo's master. In the Showa Otter series, Severn also ran the "Dragon Set" the most times. When the Ultraman brothers made cameo appearances together, Severn's combat effectiveness was also stronger than several others, the shape of Severn 21 and so on... These reasons make it seem that Round Valley is very serious about Seven Ultraman. Therefore, Severn is the "pro-son" of Round Valley.

The film's "Ottersee" was originally planned for the later "Ace Ultraman" when it was originally planned, and was scheduled to be named "Otter a" (ウルトラa), but later had to be renamed due to problems with registered trademarks. (Simply put, this name is missing a man, and the Japanese name is written in the front of Ultraman, and the name is in the back.) )
At that time, the Ultraman series had not yet been formed, and there was no such thing as the Otter brothers. Therefore, the worldview of this film is set differently from the original Ultraman. It was later changed to the same worldview. (The episode 12 episode of the banned dialogue mentions that Severn was from the M78 Nebula.) So the setting of the worldview can be said to be the same worldview, but the timeline on Earth is different from the original generation)
And Severn's positioning is known to be adult-oriented. One of the producers said that the show wanted to raise the age group of the audience. The adult orientation of the ova in the 90s was even more obvious.
Synopsis:
In the near future when human beings begin to advance the universe, the war of aggression between the stars in the universe has also intensified, and the cosmic people who attempt to invade the earth have successively flown to the earth. Humanity formed the international organization "Earth Defense Force" and began to fight against aggression from the universe. Japan has also set up the Earth Defense Force Far East Base, and in the vast underground base located in the foothills of Mt. Fuji, 300 members of the team are watching the invasion from the universe day and night. In the Far East base, a special unit "Aote Garrison" organized by the elite members of each department has been established, standing at the forefront of the defense of the earth. During the Human Evaporation Incident of the Kur stars and the subsequent explosion of the Keihin Industrial Zone, a wandering young man who called himself the "Star Cluster" joined the Otter Guard because of his contribution to assisting the Security Guard in solving the incident.
The true identity of the star clusters is the "Constant Point Surveyor 340" from the M78 Nebula, a cosmic person engaged in Earth observation. As a result of assisting the Earthlings in a crisis of aggression, they are stranded on Earth. When he encounters a crisis that even the guard cannot handle, he will change back to the form of the original cosmic man, and use his superpowers to fight against the invading cosmic people and their assassin cosmic monsters. The guards, who do not know the true face of the star clusters, named this mysterious cosmic man who assisted them as "the seventh member of the Otter Guard" as "Severn Ultraman" (ウルトラセブン).
During the six months after the completion of Ultraman, Round Valley began planning Ultraman. He also proposed the policy of "unifying the enemy as an aggressor from the universe", and made many attempts with the goal of a new line. Among them, the "Super Guard" (ウルトララ) project depicts the battle between the Earth Defense Army and the invaders who were active in the Cosmic Age, but the setting does not appear as a hero. After the expansion, the project developed into "Superman's Eye" (ウルトラアイ), instead adding the juvenile protagonist "Star Cluster" to the Super Guard, and in times of crisis, the teenager would transform into "Red Superman" (レッドマン). After the trademark registration was completed, the name of the Ultraman hero was finally officially decided to be "Severn Ultraman" (ウルトラセブン). The shape design also used Narita Heng of the previous work "Ultraman", and after the design process extended from the mechanical sense to the armor sense of the form, it became the final version of the shape seen today.
In addition to some of the settings of this game, it will also be clearly reflected in the background of the Cold War era (especially the Vietnam War). From the beginning of the first generation, some episodes have a plot that reflects on the depth of human thought, and in Severn, this thought-provoking thing is even more intense. In a sense, what some episodes of the plot want to express can be regarded as a plot that goes beyond the scope of ordinary children's entertainment works and has a profound critical and ideological proposition.
Although the ratings of the film in the later stages were low, overall it still received good reviews. In the absence of ratings to change the story outline, change the story upwards to the end of the growth pattern. Therefore, it has gradually been highly praised in the future. Of course, this film also has some of its own unique charm, and the crowds received later are slowly increasing.
Reasons why episode 12 of the film was banned:
For the first time, the episode also reveals the birthplace of Severn Ultraman (m78 Nebula) through dialogue.
Episode 12 premiered on December 17, 1967, and was replayed on June 19, 1969. When episode 12 was replayed, toys and related merchandise were also introduced. However, in the appendix to the magazine "Elementary School Second Year Student" issued by the Elementary School Hall on October 1, 1970, the nickname copy of the Spei star people is described as "exploded star people" (ひばくせいん). Although this alias is also recorded in the set set in which Round Valley production is distributed to the publishing house for a fee, it is used directly by the Elementary School Library. A middle school girl who saw the card at the time negotiated with her father, who was a special member of the Tokyo Atomic Bomb Victims Group Council, and her father issued a protest to the editorial department of the "second year of elementary school students". The incident was reported by newspapers and magazines, and the protest movement spread to relevant groups in Hiroshima and Nagasaki in a short period of time, turning into a nationwide event.
Round Valley Productions, which accepted the protests, issued a public apology on October 21, 1970, and decided not to publish the relevant information of the Sbel Star people. In addition, publishing houses, including elementary schools, are not allowed to mention them in related publications. Under such a decision, episode 12 has since been sealed by the production unit.
This film still has a very high popularity in the whole series, of course, the high popularity is because this film has these unique features, so this is also the reason why Round Valley regards him as a "pro-son". The "Gaia Ultraman" in the Heisei period is good in the Heisei trilogy, but the treatment is far inferior to Severn. Maybe it would be nice if Gaia could ovate.
