Recently, the Yangtze River Commission completed the review of the results of the centralized drinking water source survey reported by 19 provinces (municipalities directly under the central government and autonomous regions) in the Yangtze River Basin, fully communicated with the provinces and their relevant municipal water conservancy departments through video conferencing, and gave feedback on the review opinions, and conducted in-depth discussions and exchanges on the management needs of the directory of drinking water sources in the Yangtze River Basin.
The formulation of the directory of drinking water sources in the Yangtze River Basin is the responsibility of the competent water administrative department entrusted by the Yangtze River Protection Law, and the Ministry of Water Resources issued the "Work Plan for the Formulation of the Directory of Drinking Water Sources in the Yangtze River Basin" in the early stage, requiring all provincial water administrative departments to organize and carry out a thorough survey of the centralized drinking water sources (including standby water sources) in the Yangtze River Basin that supply water to the established cities and counties, and put forward suggestions for water sources to be included in the management of the directory of drinking water sources in the Yangtze River Basin. The Yangtze River Commission is responsible for reviewing and summarizing the water sources in the basin (excluding Taihu Lake), and participates in the field research of the Ministry of Water Resources and the formulation of relevant documents.
In order to carry out this work well, the Yangtze River Commission has set up a special work class, in accordance with the work deployment of the Ministry of Water Resources, maintained close contact with relevant units, timely communicated the relevant requirements for filling in the investigation information of water sources, and went to Chongqing and other places to carry out research and guidance on solving relevant problems in practical work. For more than 1,200 water source information reported by 19 provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the Central Government), the focus is on reviewing one by one from the aspects of information integrity, filling in standardization, data rationality and coordination with existing results, and forming "one province, one single" revision opinions.
In the next step, the Yangtze River Commission will supervise all provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities) to improve the relevant water source information, timely submit the results of the review to the Ministry of Water Resources, and fully cooperate with the Ministry of Water Resources to carry out research and demonstration, put forward relevant suggestions for strengthening the management of the directory of drinking water sources in the Yangtze River Basin, and accelerate the improvement of the protection and management level of drinking water sources in the Yangtze River Basin.
