The high mountains and rivers are long, benefiting hundreds of rivers

Wen 丨 Chen Feng

Having the opportunity to be an apprentice under Mr. Lacquer Man is indeed a great blessing in my life. Today, I can teach in the university lecture hall and engage in historical research, which is inseparable from mr. Wang's guidance. And Mr. Li's lifelong dedication to academic spirit and indestructible arrogance and integrity have become my road signs and models in the world.

First acquaintance

I first met Mr. Lacquer in 1981. In the autumn of that year, the Annual Conference on the History of The Chinese Peasants' War was held in the History Department of Shaanxi Normal University, the alma mater. Teacher Sun Daren, as the person in charge of the meeting, mobilized many students in the seventh and seventh grades of the department to assist in the affairs of the meeting, and I was also arranged in it. At that time, the history of China's agricultural warfare was still one of the "five golden flowers" in the field of historiography, and a large number of heavyweight scholars were active in this field for a long time. Seeing the list of participants, we students were very excited, because although we had read most of the papers, we did not have the opportunity to meet.

On the day of registration, all kinds of famous artists came to visit, which was really a crown. Among them, Mr. Qi Xia is very eye-catching, belonging to the tall man among the guests, wearing eyes, clear and energetic, talking and cheerful, with a strong Shandong rural tone. In the past, when I listened to the lectures, I learned some of Mr. Qi's views on the peasant uprising, and I also knew that during the Cultural Revolution, Guangming Daily criticized Mr. Qi's views on the "concession policy". In order to write a thesis, I once read his "History of the Peasants' War in the Qin and Han Dynasties", but the most profound impression was "Wang Anshi's Transformation Method", which was sharp in writing and profound in analysis, and was a rare good book in the era of book famine.

During the meeting, I did not have many opportunities to contact Mr. Qi, but I only heard Mr. Qi's personalized speech at the venue, and I knew that Mr. Qi was elected as the chairman of the board of directors, and when I took the photo, I was in the middle of the front row, and as a student, I also knew the weight of it. After the meeting, the students discussed the style of the scholars they had seen, and the one who talked the most about it was Mr. Lacquer, and I naturally had respect for him. But to be honest, at that time, I only talked about Mr. Qi as a famous artist, and I didn't think about other aspects. But this meeting became an opportunity for me to invest in the future.

Entrance

In 1984, after working for two years, I was allowed to go to graduate school, and when I was looking for a mentor, I naturally thought of Mr. Qi. So he boldly applied for the Song History Research Office of Hebei University. At that time, it was roughly understood that there were three important towns for the study of Song history in China, one was Peking University, one was Hangzhou University, and the other was Hebei University. Hebei University is not very famous, but it is famous for Mr. Qi and his research office.

After passing the preliminary examination, I went to Hebei University to participate in the re-examination with a nervous mood. When we met again, mr. Li kindly inquired about some information, and after answering the question, I also hurried to mention the events of the meeting on the history of the peasant war, and Mr. Li smiled happily and said: "Good, I am willing to study, and I will read more books when I come." He also talked about what he saw and heard in Shaanxi during the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, and especially jokingly said: The locals do not pay attention to eating, and in addition to the staple food, there is a plate of spicy seeds and a plate of vinegar. Under the conversation, I felt both warm and relaxed.

To be honest, compared with the current environment, it was indeed a good time to read and do research, and most people probably agree with me. At that time, the country attached unprecedented importance to education, the society advocated knowledge, there was less interference from above and in schools, and teachers and students were more calm. In particular, the enrollment is strict, the number of admissions is not large, the conditions for the selection of tutors are also very strict, and most of them are experts with considerable achievements, which ensures the quality of training. Before I entered the school, there were only three disciples under Mr. Qi,300 of whom were four of us, for a total of seven graduate students. In terms of size, there are fewer doctoral students than many supervisors bring now. At that time, Mr. Gao Shulin and Guo Dongxu, his assistants, were also accompanied by two teachers, and two staff members in the office and the reference room.

The Song History Research Room is located in a bungalow courtyard on the east side of the South Courtyard of Hebei University, which is the place of the Hebei Provincial Party Committee in the old days, and the environment is quite quiet. The research office has a lot of books and materials, and many of his own books are also used for everyone's use, such as the "Continuation of Zizhi Tongjian Long Edition" and "Song Huijiao" published by Zhejiang Bookstore. Soon after, he purchased a large amount of money to buy the Taiwan photocopied Wenyuange "Four Libraries of the Whole Book", which was relatively rare in the Chinese mainland in the mid-1980s, and many university libraries could not afford to add it. Mr. must come every day, often the earliest to arrive, after writing, often talk to us about learning and chatting, the atmosphere is very harmonious.

With the passage of time, I gradually became familiar with Mr. Qi's straightforward, love-hate personality, and I also roughly understood Mr. Qi's academic experience. Mr. Li's traditional historical foundation is extremely strong, and the literature and historical materials are often handy, but what is more impressive is the broad vision and profound theoretical literacy, and when talking about academic topics, he can always look at the big picture and look at the problems extremely profoundly. All this can be explained by Mr. Huang's treatises, especially the magnificent work of a million words, "Economic History of the Song Dynasty". He entered Southwest United University in his early years to study, and after the end of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, he entered Peking University to study with Mr. Deng Guangming as a graduate student, and was a high-achieving student at Peking University at that time. In the early 1950s, Mr. Qi went to work at the Institute of Modern Chinese History of the Academy of Sciences and became the director and assistant of the famous historian Mr. Fan Wenlan. Later, due to political turmoil and his upright personality, he was completely removed from the institute and transferred to Tianjin Normal University, which was later Hebei University.

Looking back on the three years of graduate school study, it is really bitter and happy. I remember that at that time, in addition to being mainly taught by Mr. Gao Shulin, Mr. Gao Shulin also taught a lecture on the economic history of the Yuan Dynasty, and then Mr. Gao invited some famous family friends to make a report, and the more impressive ones were Ning Ke of the Capital Normal University, Tian Changwu of Shandong University, Fang Xing of the Economic Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and Wang Zengyu of the Institute of History. I spent most of my time reading books with my classmates, and sometimes in order to find historical materials, I often spent many days in the ancient books department of the Beijing Tu Library, staying in the cheap basement, eating instant noodles. At that time, I was a little reckless and bold, and I often bothered my husband with some questions, and he always followed the rules and temptations, so that I was enlightened, like a spring breeze. In this regard, I have roughly mastered the methods of historical research, which is a beginner's path.

Shame on you. Around the second half of 1986, Mr. Qi asked me where I was going to graduate, and when I was still alone, I replied that I could go anywhere. A few days later, Teacher Gao talked to me and said that Mr. Qi planned to stay with me, and I happily agreed, because I could continue to be instructed by Mr. Qi, and there would be prospects for doing research on the history of the Song Dynasty, and there was some vanity, and I could be favored by Mr. Qi.

Coincidentally, when I returned home during the winter vacation the following year, my family and classmates introduced me to a local university object. At that time, he was young and ignorant, and only considered the relationship with his girlfriend in love, and after returning to school, he told his husband the decision to regret it. Mr. Gentleman's upright and arrogant personality is well-known in the academic circles, and he was very angry after listening to my confession. Later, Teacher Gao persuaded me to stay many times, and I also knew that this was mr. Gao's meaning, and although I felt deeply guilty, I still failed to change my mind. Before graduation, Mr. Zhang Yizhi, who did not care about my previous suspicions, because I contacted my work, also wrote a letter of recommendation for me to Mr. Zhang Yizhi, who was the president of Northwest University at the time. Thinking about it now, I did break my husband's heart, but he forgave me with the generosity of his father.

In this way, I left Hebei University with a very apologetic feeling and bid farewell to Mr. Qi.

Furnace

After working in the History Department of Northwest University, due to the heavy teaching tasks, coupled with the lack of research focus of Song Shifei's unit, I could only explore on my own, and during this period I went abroad for two years. In addition to extending the topic of Caoyun from the Song Dynasty to the top and bottom, completing the manuscript of "Caoyun and Ancient Society", and publishing several papers, the interest in the military and political affairs of the Song Dynasty has not made a breakthrough for many years. These are their own choices, and there are not many complaints. But whenever I think of the situation of leaving Mr. at that time, I feel deeply guilty, except for the fact that I have visited my husband once with my family before going abroad, I have always been embarrassed to visit, only to send greeting cards every year and write words of blessing.

In the summer of 1997, the Annual Conference of Song History was held in Yinchuan, and Mr. Song As the president of the Song History Research Association, he was bound to attend. After receiving the notice, I hesitated and attended the meeting with some hesitation. During this period, I found an opportunity to report to my husband on my ten years of situation, especially mentioning some difficulties in doing research, and he listened to the report with great concern and encouraged me to continue to explore in depth in the field of Song history. However, before and after the meeting, I spent more than two years on the development of the first multimedia "General History of China" in China, which was a hard work that consumed energy and had nothing to rely on, and I had no time to take care of it for the time being.

By the beginning of 1999, when the multimedia General History of China had roughly come to fruition, I was determined to get rid of all kinds of interference, and while sorting out the manuscript of the Northern Song Dynasty's Chongwen suppression of martial arts, I focused my research on the topic of the Song Dynasty martial arts group. At this time, I felt that my knowledge was insufficient, and in the absence of information and information, it was also difficult to train graduate students, so I thought of returning to Mr. Qi's side to study. Fortunately, I got the understanding of my husband and the support of my brothers in the same discipline, and I got the opportunity to pursue a doctoral student on the job that year.

I am ashamed to say that I had just been rated as a professor at that time, and when I was nearly forty years old, I returned to the furnace to become a student with my young classmates. However, after experiencing many hardships, I not only cherish the time and opportunities, but also read books to see problems in depth. Therefore, although part of the time is still in the unit, the efficiency is not low. When choosing the topic of my graduation thesis, I proposed to do "Northern Song Dynasty Martial General Group Research", thinking that there was some accumulation, and the manuscript of "The Sorrow of the Samurai - Dialysis of the Phenomenon of Suppression of Martial Arts in the Northern Song Dynasty" had been read by Mr. Li and received Mr. Li's preface, so Mr. Li approved of my idea. As a result, I have thought deeply about these issues, and not only have I roughly completed the first draft of the paper in more than two years, but also published ten papers successively.

Looking back on those days, in addition to constantly asking mr. questions in the process of collecting information and writing, I often had the opportunity to chat with him. In his later years, mr. Has long been through the history of ancient and modern times, and his thinking is extremely clear, not only maintaining a consistently profound and sharp style, but also looking at problems with wisdom. In that office for many years, the gentleman would always let me smoke his good cigarette, and he would occasionally smoke one or two cigarettes, and the conversation was almost all-encompassing. Mr. Li often talked about the past, involving many people and things in the academic circles and lessons learned, which opened my eyes and gave me a deeper understanding of him. It is also worth mentioning that Mr. Lacquer and I have a common hobby, that is, I like boxing, of course, Mr. is appreciative, I not only appreciate, I have practiced a little before, so when it comes to the battle between Tyson and Hollyfield, Mr. Tyson and Hollyfield, Mr. Fei's eyebrows flutter and express his opinions, which makes people think that it is an old man who is nearly eighty years old, so full of vitality and full of fighting spirit. My classmates and I all said: Mr. Qi will definitely live a long life, and he will definitely live to be more than ninety. But who would have thought that there would be an unexpected medical accident later.

Wounded and dead

I remember very well that it was November 2, 2001, a cold and gloomy day. At about 8:00 a.m., I rode to the Song History Research Center of Hebei University to read a book, and as soon as I entered the corridor, I was stopped by the teacher in the office, telling me that I had just learned that Mr. Qi might not be able to do it. It was really a thunderbolt on a sunny day, and I suddenly felt that my mind was blank, and I immediately went downstairs and rode to my husband's house.

In retrospect, when I entered my husband's house, the first thing I saw was a female doctor collecting her equipment, and then I saw my husband lying on the bed. At that time, there was also Mr. Qi Yansheng's son, Qi Yansheng, and the other one or two could not remember clearly. Looking at the gentleman who seemed to be asleep, I couldn't believe that this was true, because two days ago I had talked to my husband in the office about a lot of things, and two days later, such an accident had occurred.

Subsequently, several division brothers and the Song History Research Center and the relevant responsible persons of the school all came one after another, and everyone first inquired about the relevant situation, and then discussed how to deal with the aftermath. At about ten o'clock in the morning, my brother Jiang Xidong and I carefully washed our bodies with alcohol and changed into new clothes, at which time the pain in our hearts continued to gush out. Eight years later, the scene is still fresh in my mind.

On the day of the funeral, many people came, including disciples from the same door, teachers and students of the school, some officials from Hebei Province, and many scholars and friends who came from afar. The funeral was very solemn, and when the mourning music was played, many people could not hide their grief and shed tears, remembering Wang Zengyu, Qiao Youmei of Shandong University, Ye Zhenhua of Nankai University and several other gentlemen and many of our disciples wept even more. I think this sadness is not only due to the death of an old man, but also to the unexpected stimulation caused by medical malpractice, which makes people unable to accept this cruel reality. Although Mr. Qi has experienced many hardships and tortures, his body is so tough, his mind is so active, his will is so strong, and there are so many grand writing plans to be completed, if there is really a god, he should certainly not be treated like this. However, the unexpected that no one wants to believe is in front of us, and it is inevitable that people will strongly feel the fragility of life and the impermanence of the world.

Before Mr. Qi passed away, I had roughly sorted out the main contents of my graduation thesis and received mr. advice, but I had not yet come up with a complete manuscript for Mr. Qi to look at and check, which was undoubtedly something that I regretted all my life. I think the only thing I could do at that time was to complete the paper carefully, so as to comfort mr. Spirit in heaven. In May 2002, I successfully passed the defense, finished my on-the-job doctoral degree study, and then bid farewell to Hebei University.

On November 2 of that year, one year after his death, I made a special trip to Baoding to participate in the commemoration of him. Most of the disciples of the same disciple scattered all over the place gathered again, plus the number of students in the school, as many as sixty or seventy, a few in the domestic Song history circle, many of them have become the backbone scholars in this field (if you count to this day, including me, the four vice presidents of the Chinese Song History Research Association are mr. Students), it is Gao ShanShuichang, who benefits Baichuan. In front of my husband's grave, I looked down at the past, and my heart was full of gratitude. The days when I studied at lacquer door flashed quickly like a picture, and My Husband's voice and smile appeared more clearly. When I parted, I silently told my infinite thoughts in my heart and blessed mr. Li to be happy in heaven.

The Slovaks are long gone, and the legacy will always be there. As a disciple who has been practicing for many years, I have always regarded Mr. Qi as a model of moral writing, especially admiring mr. Qi's arrogance and open-mindedness, and often teaching him in the process of cultivating his students. Life also has an end, and know no end, whenever I think of Mr., I don't want to be vigilant at all times!
