Beijing. Hu Jiemin

When it comes to the initial construction of the Bayi Factory, the credit is quite large, and the first person to be recommended is Hu Jiemin, who has been the deputy director of the Bayi Factory all his life. It is not easy for a person to do one thing well in a lifetime, and it is even more difficult to do only one thing well in a lifetime.

Through Hu Jiemin's life, I thought that there was an ancient man who wrote a couplet, called, a gentleman often thinks about what happens behind him, and a hero dares to eat the loss in front of him!

There is an article on Ankang in The China Children's Magazine, download it, and I would like to express my gratitude to Ankang.

Hu Jiemin Founder of Bayi Film Studio

In the 60-year history of Bayi Factory, he has been in charge of technology, administration, personnel, foreign affairs and other aspects from preparation to factory construction, and has also witnessed the Bayi Factory from birth to glory.

Looking back at the history of the establishment of the Bayi Factory, many people are worthy of a big book, and Hu Jiemin is one of them. He served as the secretary general of the preparatory department during the preparatory period of the Bayi Factory, and after the establishment of the factory, he served as the deputy director in charge of production technology and administration, personnel, finance, foreign affairs and other aspects, which can be described as a founder of the Bayi Factory and a founder of the military film industry.

In the new Chinese film studio, Bayi Film Studio is a film studio with a long history, a tide of good films and great influence. Today, it has gone through 60 years of glorious history.

Looking back at the history of the establishment of the Bayi Factory, many people are worthy of a big book, and Hu Jiemin is one of them. He served as the secretary general of the preparatory department during the preparatory period of the Bayi Factory, and after the establishment of the factory, he served as the deputy director in charge of production technology and administration, personnel, finance, foreign affairs and other aspects, which can be described as a founder of the Bayi Factory, and also witnessed the Bayi Factory from birth to glory.

Hu Jiemin, whose original name was Hu Zhongyang, was born on May 28, 1917 in Hanyin County, southern Shaanxi. He was talented and studious from an early age, and after graduating from the prefectural higher primary school in 1931, he was admitted to the provincial Xing'an Normal School and the provincial Ankang Middle School with excellent results.

After the outbreak of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression in 1937, according to Hu Jiemin's conditions at that time, he could continue to go to university for further study, but he witnessed the peril of the nation and the shattering of mountains and rivers, so he resolutely and resolutely walked out of the school that year and rushed to Yan'an, the holy land of revolution, to participate in the revolution, and joined the Communist Party of China in November 1938.

After arriving in Yan'an, Hu Jiemin entered the Northern Shaanxi Public School; In 1938, he entered the Anti-Japanese Military and Political University, and was a cadet of the fourth batch of the first large team, the second detachment and the fourth squadron, and served as the squad leader; After the completion of the study period, he was assigned to the Teaching Brigade of the New Fourth Army's Henan Qishan Zhugou Garrison as a deputy squadron leader, and was later transferred to the Guerrilla Detachment of the New Fourth Army (later renamed the Fourth Division of the New Fourth Army). Because he was an extremely scarce "cultural person" at that time, he successively served as the leader of the young vanguard (that is, the propaganda team) of the political department of the detachment, the political instructor of the company, the political instructor of the political department of the detachment, the chief of the cultural and entertainment section of the propaganda department of the political department of the detachment, the director of the club of the division directly under the political department, the deputy political instructor of the county brigade, the chief of the propaganda and education unit of the political department of the regiment, and the political instructor of the battalion.

At that time, a soldier of the New Fourth Army named Wang Yan recalled in the article "Unforgettable Years of resisting the Great Resistance" that he arrived at the base area of the New Fourth Army in northern Anhui with the Guangxi Student Army, and once wrote: "After we arrived at the sixth detachment, we rested for two days, and the leader of the detachment held a welcome party for us. Hu Jiemin, director of the club of the detachment's direct subordinate team, directed the singing, and also engaged the cheerleaders to sing songs to each other and sing songs of anti-Japanese salvation, and the venue was full of joy. Finally, Commander peng Xuefeng and political commissar made a speech and warmly welcomed us back to the units of the New Fourth Army." -- Hu Jiemin in the war years has already shown his literary and artistic organizational skills.

The old tooth tells the story of the old tooth of the Bayi factory

During the Liberation War, Hu Jiemin continued his southern expedition to the North, participated in the Battle of Sixian, the Battle of Subei, the Battle of Huaihai, and the Battle of Crossing the River, which shocked China and foreign countries, and served as a political instructor of the teaching brigade, deputy director and director of the regimental political department, and political commissar of the division's logistics department. In the winter of 1948, during the Battle of Hongze Lake at Dataikou in Siyang, Jiangsu Province, his feet were frostbitten and he was disabled by a third-class B disability.

After liberation, Hu Jiemin successively served as the political commissar of the Air Defense Department of the Nanjing Garrison Headquarters and the deputy director of the Organization Department of the East China Air Defense Political Department. Less than a year later, he was transferred to a new position related to film, and has since formed an indissoluble relationship with film.

In the early days of the founding of the People's Republic of China, movies were far from popular in China. The lack of films is certainly one reason, but more importantly, there are no film screening teams in the vast majority of regions. In order to develop the film screening industry, in 1950, the central government held a film screening training class in Nanjing. Since there were more than 400 PLA cadets among the cadets, the General Political Department selected Hu Jiemin as the deputy director of the training course. This training course played a great role in promoting the film industry in New China, and a trainee from Qinghai Province later introduced it in a reminiscence article: "The Nanjing Film Projectionist Training Course was held in Nanjing by the Cultural Film Bureau from June to December 1950. Most of the provincial and municipal cultural departments, troops, trade unions, and Sino-Soviet Friendship Associations sent more than 1,870 people to participate in the study. Bai Dafang is the director, Hu Jiemin is the deputy director, Zheng Bozhang is the provost, and the teachers of the training class are provided by various professional units and the Department of Electrochemical Education of Jinling University in Nanjing. After the completion of the course, 600 screening teams were set up, thus increasing the number of film screening teams on the mainland to 700, laying the foundation for the film screening work in rural areas, factories and troops."

After the film training class, Hu Jiemin was transferred to the General Political Department as the chief of the publicity and distribution section of the Cultural Film Division. Soon after, in March 1951, the Central Committee decided to establish a film studio in the army, with Chen Yi, minister of culture of the General Political Department, as the director of the Preparatory Committee, and Hu Jiemin being transferred to the secretary general of the Preparatory Department. If we say that Hu Jiemin's association with film began with "film screening" limited to the technical level; Then, from then on, he will have to deal with this "film producer" who integrates screenwriting, directing, shooting, editing and printing, and combines technology and art, which is undoubtedly a severe test for him.

After Hu Jiemin took office, he first studied and formulated with the personnel of the Preparatory Department in accordance with the requirements of his superiors: "Closely integrate the tasks of military education, and carry out construction on the one hand and production on the other in a planned and step-by-step manner." From small to large, steady development" of the factory construction policy; Immediately afterwards, intense preparatory work was put into place. In the preparatory stage, it is not only necessary to select factory sites, build houses, purchase equipment, but also carry out business construction, first of all, to find film professionals. For example, when he learned that Ji Zhifeng, the younger brother of Ji Chaozhu, an old predecessor of China's diplomatic front, had studied film editing in the United States, and had just finished studying at the Preparatory Department of the East China Military University and was preparing to go to the Shanghai Film Studio, Hu Jiemin personally went to the Ji Dynasty Casting Gate and asked Ji Zhifeng to change his mind and work at the Bayi Factory, which was under construction.

While introducing film professionals from many sources, Hu Jiemin also led more than 10 people from the Preparatory Office to study at the North Film Studio, and in 1952, he organized a delegation to several film studios in the former Soviet Union and the former Czechoslovakia for inspection and exchange.

The old tooth tells the story of the old tooth of the Bayi factory

Tian Hua, a famous film artist, recalled this unforgettable expedition in the article "I Participated in the Preparation of the Bayi Factory": "In the summer of 1952, an army film delegation was formed, headed by Comrade Yu Ji and Comrade Hu Jiemin as the secretary general, and the members were Shen Simon, Li Changhua and me, as well as two translators. The purpose of forming the army film delegation is twofold: to publicize Chinese army films; Visit and study at the Czechoslovak Army Film Factory"; Later, the army delegation visited and held discussions in Leningrad, soviet Union. We visited the Moscow Film Studio and talked with our friends at the academy to see where their actors came from and where they went."

After more than a year of preparation, on August 1, 1952, the studio was officially established as "People's Liberation Army Film Studio", and in January 1956, it was renamed "Bayi Film Studio". From the beginning of the establishment of the factory as a deputy director, to 1984, Hu Jiemin did not leave the Bayi Factory for more than 30 years - he almost devoted his life to the military film industry.

In 1955 he was awarded the rank of colonel, and in 1963 he was promoted to colonel, where he was awarded the Order of Independence and Freedom of the Third Class, the Liberation Medal of the Second Class, and the Medal of Honor.

In the process of construction, bayi factory also received the care and support of the central leaders; Premier Zhou Enlai, Chairman Zhu De, Vice Chairman Dong Biwu, and Foreign Minister Chen Yi personally visited the Bayi Factory for inspection and guidance. In particular, Premier Zhou, although he is busy with government affairs, has always remembered this nascent military film studio; In order to allow Bayi Factory to have more learning and exchange opportunities, whenever there are government foreign affairs activities related to movies, Bayi Factory always sends personnel to participate; Over time, I became acquainted with Hu Jiemin. Once, after meeting foreign guests at the Great Hall of the People, Premier Zhou shook hands with Hu Jiemin, who had been invited to attend the meeting, and said humorously: "You are also a 'foreign guest.'"

Whether in wartime or in peacetime, Hu Jiemin has always maintained a work style and life style of honesty, strict discipline, and hardship and simplicity. During the Cultural Revolution, the Bayi Factory was the "hardest hit area", and Hu Jiemin bore the brunt of the impact, was imprisoned in a cowshed, was persecuted, and suffered from cancer; His family was also subjected to the fact that his wife had not accepted the organizational request to "draw a line" with him and divorce him, and was demoted and demoted to a local post as a worker. Despite this, Hu Jiemin still adhered to justice, lived tenaciously, withstood the test, won wide acclaim from the chiefs of the troops, comrades-in-arms and the masses, and was praised as "an excellent soldier who came out of the study hall."

After retiring, Hu Jiemin has always insisted on reading and studying, caring about national affairs, and his desk is always full of books and newspapers. Although he is the only surviving elder-level figure among the founders of the Bayi Factory and the army film industry, he has never been proud of his achievements; When talking about the past, I always credit the credit to the old chiefs and old comrades who fought side by side with me in those years. On the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the factory in 2002, the magazine "Chinese and Foreign Military Film and Television" asked him to write an article recalling his experience of participating in the construction of the Bayi Factory, but he took "The Birth of the Bayi Film Studio -- Memories of Several Founders" as a personal witness, reviewed the achievements and contributions of chen bo, Situ Huimin, Tang Yu, Wang Ping, Xia Guoying and other founders, and only listed himself among them and made a brief account.

After 10 years, this year's Bayi Factory has ushered in the 60th anniversary of its establishment. At this time, Hu Jiemin still thought of the old chiefs and old comrades-in-arms who had made contributions to the Bayi Factory, so at the age of 95, he and his comrades-in-arms jointly recalled and wrote an article commemorating the old chief Chen Yi, which was published in the magazine "Chinese and Foreign Military Film and Television" with the title of "The Days and Nights When Chen Yi Founded the Bayi Film Studio", detailing the great achievements of Chen Yi, then minister of culture of the General Political Department and director of the Preparatory Committee of the Bayi Factory, in the early days of the establishment of the factory.

To commemorate the 60th anniversary of the establishment of bayi factory, the magazine "Sons and Daughters of China" recently published a group of articles. Inspired by this, the author originally wanted to interview Hu Jiemin himself, in view of his recent hospitalization, it is not convenient to disturb, so he completed this article based on relevant information, in order to send his most sincere wishes to him.

Hu Jiemin died at the age of 97, and at the time of the memorial service, almost all the elderly people who could walk around the Bayi Factory and their children came to the memorial service. With the passage of time, his contribution to the Bayi Factory has become more and more nostalgic to everyone, and it has also attracted the attention of historians and documentary writers.

Thanks to Li Xiaoge, the son of Li Jun, one of the founders of Bayi Factory, li Jun, for filming the documentary, which explained the period of the establishment of Bayi Factory. Hu Jiemin's words on the physical health screen at that time still touch us all.

The death of Hu Jiemin also represents the end of the elders of bayi factory.
