The national flag-raising ceremony to celebrate the 61st anniversary of the founding of Huaqiao University was held simultaneously on November 1 at Liao Chengzhi Square of Quanzhou Campus, Area A Square of Xiamen Campus, and South Gate Square of Chinese College.
At 7 o'clock in the morning of the same day, the members of the National Flag Guard stood tall and took sonorous and powerful steps to escort the sacred national flag into the field. Accompanied by the majestic and heroic national anthem, the bright five-star red flag slowly raised. All the teachers and students looked solemn and saluted the rising national flag with the most solemn gaze.
The leaders of the school, Xu Xipeng, Wu Jianping, Liu Bin, Zeng Lu, Peng Pei, Bi Mingqiang, Wang Xiuyong, Wang Lixia, and Zhang Yunbo, assistant to the president, attended the flag-raising ceremony at the Quanzhou Campus, Xiamen Campus and Longzhouchi Campus respectively.
Xu Xipeng, secretary of the party committee of the school, Wu Jianping, president of the school, and Zeng Lu, vice president of the school, delivered speeches respectively. They pointed out that this year is the beginning of the development of the "14th Five-Year Plan" and the beginning of the school's new journey. In the new journey of comprehensively building a modern socialist country, and in the continuous struggle to accelerate the construction of a first-class university in China and a good reputation in the world, it is necessary for the whole university to unite as one, share the mission, and create a better future.
They encouraged all teachers and students to inherit the fine traditions of overseas Chinese schools, cultivate patriotic feelings of loving the country and the school, take the older generation of overseas Chinese leaders and founders of BGI as an example, and consciously integrate personal development into the overall situation of school development; take root in the fertile soil of overseas Chinese schools, maintain the desire to seek knowledge and learn, make full use of the school's various resources and platforms, explore more effective learning methods, and put the wisdom and passion of youth into knowledge exploration, social practice, and volunteer service; shoulder the mission and responsibility of overseas Chinese schools, and highlight the responsibility of xingqiao famous schools. Consciously shoulder the historical mission of disseminating Chinese culture and promoting Sino-foreign friendship, and work together to promote the high-quality and high-level development of the school.
Liu Yuyang, a 2021 student of the School of Business Administration, and Wu Zhanpeng, a 2018 student of the School of Civil Engineering, spoke as student representatives to express their most sincere wishes to their alma mater.
After the flag-raising ceremony, the students of the Talent School (Tsing Ma Class) and the school radio station recited "The University Where Blood Is Thicker Than Water" in unison, and all the staff sang the school song "A Fertile Land" with the most sincere emotions. Teachers and students at the scene also took a group photo with the background wall and blessing words celebrating the 61st anniversary of the founding of the school to send good wishes to the school.
