The Medicine Man Offering Law of dunhuang Mogao Grottoes:
The full name of the Medicine Buddha is "Medicine Master Liuli Guang rulai", also known as the medicine master Rulai, the Great Doctor King Buddha, the Doctor King Shan Death, and the Twelve Wishes King, and is the leader of the Eastern Pure Glass World. The so-called "medicine man" is the doctor. Kumarosh translated the Great Wisdom Theory yun: "Many patients, more medicine men." Tang Dynasty Liang Su "Medicine Man Liu Li Guang RuLai Praise and Sequence" Yun: "Medicine Man, the Number of the Great Doctor; The Way of the Great Ming of Liu Li." Therefore, wash away the eight sufferings, shake the candles and six shadows, and have great merit. The Buddhist scriptures record that in the past, there was an electric light in the world, saying that the three multiplications of sentient beings, at that time there was a Brahmin who raised two sons, the eldest son named Rizhao, the second son named Yuezhao. Seeing the chaos in the world, the Brahmins developed a bodhichitta aim to enlighten all the suffering beings of the world. When Electric Light heard that he had vowed to bring benefits to all sick beings, he called him the King of Medicine. Later, the doctor king immersed himself in the cultivation of Buddhism, and finally achieved positive results, becoming the oriental medicine man Rulai, and the second son he raised also became the two great bodhisattvas around the medicine master Rulai, the sun shining on the bodhisattva and the moonlight shining on the bodhisattva. On the 30th day of the ninth month of the lunar calendar, welcome the Medicine Buddha Christmas Day.
There are many records and notes about the faith of the medicine man. In Hui Guan's "Medicine Master's Sutra", the "First Text on Eliminating Difficulties" clearly divides the ceremony of offering the medicine man into six links: one is to get rid of suffering, two to fast, three to practice, four to create statues, five to continue to be enlightened, and six to create banners.
● Fasting: When fasting to the eighth... It is said that seven days and nights are practiced for the eight prohibitions of the suffering.
● Practice: Divided into three, one teaching offering, two teachings of confession, three teachings of sarcasm... When offering food to bhikkhus, it is a offering of sangha treasures.
● Statues: Day and night to rulai, the two religions of confession, six o'clock worshippers, is the treasure of the Buddha. Forty-nine times to read this sutra, three teachings to recite it sarcastically, and those who recite this sutra are offerings to the Dharma Treasure.
● Continued light (burning lamp): Burning forty-nine lights to as big as a wheel... The method of making seven-wheel lamps, its wheel shape is as large as a wheel, two like seats, and one round of lights in front of each. Seven lights are placed on each of the two wheels. So the offering has been made. According to the merit of burning the lamp, there are four kinds of benefits: one is blessed with immeasurable blessings, two are enlightened at the end of life, three are ascended to heaven after death, and four are enlightened. Blessed are the immeasurable... It is said that the seven days of the sutra are also.
In order to get rid of the "Nine Horizontal Deaths", to get rid of illness, to eliminate disasters, and to continue life, while fasting for seven days and seven nights, the above -mentioned "cultivation" links are carried out, the Three Jewels are saluted, the monks are given food (fasting monks), and the "Medicine Master Sutra" is recited forty-nine times under the leadership of the monks. At the same time, the lamp wheel was lit for forty-nine days. Hui Guan reminds the faithful in the Sutra that as long as they make offerings in strict accordance with the requirements of the Medicine Master Sutra for the offering ceremony, they can obtain the merit of "the river sand can be counted", break the seven difficulties and nine horizontals, and reborn in the Pure Land of Oriental Bliss.
