Little Women tells the story of the growth and love of four sisters living in Massachusetts in the 1800s. The film not only presents the characters of that era as much as possible from the costumes, but also invites the famous cinematographer Wilson Webb to shoot old-fashioned portraits of the actors.

Wilson Webb teamed up with Jess Gonchor, the art director for the film Little Women, to place the appropriate background for each character and photograph the actors using a wet-release process.

Because the venue is near the set of the film, actors can come in costumes between filming. He said on social platforms: "Actors have to sit still. Not because of the long exposure time, but because the depth of field of the photo is less than 1 inch deep. It takes 10 to 20 seconds to set the wet plate to be exposed, so if someone moves slightly, the photo will not be in focus. ”

Part of the production process
Making an 8 x 10 inch wet plate photo takes a lot of time and effort. Wilson Webb takes about 10 minutes to prepare the developer panels, 30 minutes to wash the exposed developer plates, dry them and seal them.
In the end, Wilson Webb's efforts paid off. His wet-version photographs are real and beautiful, as if traveling through time and space, leading the audience back to the era in which the story is told.
