"Everyone has some understanding of Dong Cunrui's heroic story through textbooks, but some details are still relatively unfamiliar, through this interpretation, I believe that everyone will have a stronger feeling about the moment that happened at that time." The large-scale musical poetry drama "Blood Fertile China" created and produced by the China Coal Mine Cultural and Labor Troupe was staged at the National Centre for the Performing Arts from May 27 to 29, and actor Liu Haoran played the hero Dong Cunrui in the play, and he was touched a lot when he talked about his understanding of this character. In addition to Dong Cunrui, the play also selects Li Dazhao, Zhou Wenyong, Chen Tiejun, Fang Zhimin, Yang Kaihui, Zuo Quan, Zhao Yiman, Jiang Jie, Liu Hulan, and other outstanding representatives of communists who have heroically sacrificed their lives in the magnificent and great history and their heroic deeds, invited famous poetry writers to tailor a passionate and unforgettable poem or prose for each heroic figure, and praised the glorious image of them throwing their heads and spilling their blood for new China and sacrificing their precious lives in poetic language.

The musical and poetry drama "Blood Fertile China" is a key support work of the "Stage Art Creation Project Celebrating the 100th Anniversary of the Founding of the Communist Party of China", and is also an epic drama presented by the China Coal Mine Cultural and Labor Troupe to present the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China. The drama is composed of the prologue "Dawn", "Earth Fire", "Kapok Is Red", "Lovely China", "Echo of the Wusihun River", "The Five Heroes of Wolf's Tooth Mountain", "The Choice between Life and Death", "The Last Family Letter", "For New China" and the epilogue "Hero Immortal" and other chapters. Through the unique artistic expression of musical poetry, with poetry and prose as the literary carrier, original music as the support, recitation and theatrical performance as the form of performance, the music, recitation, theatrical performance and stage design are integrated, the inner world, firm faith and emotional resonance of the heroes are expressed to the greatest extent, and the glorious images of the heroes and martyrs stand on the stage like sculptures.

"Musicals are not as good at telling stories as dramas, but have an advantage in poetically expressing the emotions of the characters. In the play, we are important to show the mental journey of the heroes in the last moments before their sacrifice, and the passionate spiritual power that bursts out at this time is very suitable to convey it in the art form of musical poetry. Feng Bilie, the co-author of the musical poetry drama "Blood Fertile China", said.

"Although I have played a revolutionary hero in film and television dramas with related themes before, this time I feel different, because I have to face so many audiences directly on the stage. Liu Haoran admitted that for the stage play, he is still a newcomer, especially playing a revolutionary hero, to work hard to act well, so he is still a little nervous in his heart, hoping to get the recognition of the audience.

It is understood that the musical poetry drama "Blood Fertile China" was performed for the first round on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the founding of New China in 2019. The play invites poets and writers Chen Xiaoguang, Feng Baiming, Liu Fubo, Chen Jianzu, Yang Qingci, Shu Ziyuan, Feng Bilie, etc. to compose poems, with Feng Bilie and Feng Baiming as the overall draft, drama directors Cao Qijing and Wang Huquan directing, Mo Fan composing, Luo Jiangtao as the stage designer, and the three generations of theatrical actors of the China Coal Mine Literary and Labor Troupe performing together, including many well-known performing artists who are familiar to the audience.

In this rehearsal, the China Coal Mine Cultural and Labor Troupe synthesized the guidance of the "100-year-old" review experts and the experience of the first round of performances, and modified and processed some of the contents around the spiritual core of the whole play "Tribute to Heroes", and made great changes in the stage design, making the play more artistically appealing in artistic expression. The play has a strong artistic lineup, many well-known artists participate in the performance, such as Jia Yulan, Guo Kaimin led the recitation of the prologue and epilogue, Xu Tao played Fang Zhimin, recited "Lovely China", this round of performances also added Du Ninglin, Jin Dong, Liu Haoran and other actors to join, Du Ninglin played Liu Hulan's contemporaries in the play, Jin Dong played the revolutionary pioneer Li Dazhao. Coupled with the joint interpretation of a group of young outstanding actors, it aims to attract audiences of a wider range of ages into the theater, especially for the younger generation to feel the power of spirit and faith through the play, and to receive the education of revolutionary heroism and idealism.
