Lu Sui

Tang Dezong

Lu Sui's father, Lu Bi (路泌), was appointed as a lieutenant of Chang'an in the fourth year of Jianzhong (783). Tubo invaded, Emperor Dezong fled to Liang Prefecture (梁州, in modern Hanzhong), accompanied by Lu Bi, who was wounded by an arrow in the rebellion, and served as a deputy marshal judge under Hun Yao, and was later taken hostage by Tubo when he accompanied Hun Yu to Pingliang (present-day Gansu Province).

Tubo people

In order to appease Lu Bi's descendants, Emperor Xianzong of Tang appointed Lu Sui as the assassin of Dai Prefecture (绛州, in modern Xindi, Shanxi), and solemnly treated Lu Bi with a solemn funeral. Later, he appointed Lu Sui as the editor of the Left Supplementary Que History Museum.

Tang Xianzong

After Muzong succeeded to the throne, Lu Sui was successively promoted to the rank of Scholar of Lectures, Zhongshu Sheren, Bachelor of Hanlin, Bachelor of Chengzhi, and Waiter of bingbu. Whoever gave gifts, Lu Sui refused, on the grounds that he was not allowed to do things for the state and was not given privately.

Tang Muzong
