<h1 class="pgc-h-arrow-right" data-track="4" > how many wives and concubines Hong Xiuquan has</h1>
As a very famous peasant uprising in history, many people are also very curious about Hong Xiuquan, what kind of person can be frequently mentioned as a representative figure of the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom? However, although the starting point of the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom was good, but later, the leader still changed, Hong Xiuquan for himself to store the "harem", wives and concubines in groups, so how many wives and concubines did he have at that time? After the fall of That day, what was the fate of his wives and concubines?

The harem life of The Heavenly King Hong Xiuquan has always been one of the topics of discussion in people's mouths, and some people say that Hong Xiuquan does not smile and has a serious private life, and is the righteous and awe-inspiring Taiping Heavenly King; Some people also say that Hong Xiuquan is absurd and lustful, and after entering Nanjing, he sits on Meiji, indulges in gentle countryside, and is a completely absurd emperor. In the end, which kind of evaluation can represent the real Hong Xiuquan?
According to Li Jinfu, who was captured at the beginning of the Jintian Uprising, and Hong Daquan, who was captured outside Yong'an City, "Hong Xiuquan had thirty-six women", and the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom also clearly stipulated in the Taiping Regulations promulgated during the Yong'an period that people "must not be mixed between the concubines and horses of the Imperial Palace", and from this point of view, there must have been many women around the Hong Sect Master at that time.
At that time, the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom was just a group of rabble-rousers who had just come out of the mountains, and the number was only tens of thousands, and the Hong Sect Master could not wait to choose 36 concubines, and the Xianfeng Demon Head that he said he wanted to eliminate, there were only 18 concubines with names and surnames, and such a strong contrast did not know how to cause people to feel.
On January 12, 1853, the Taiping Army captured the important town of Wuchang in Huguang, and Hong Xiuquan's horse parade field was full of concubines, "sixty women of more than ten years of age", and most of these beauties were included in the harem by Hong Xiuquan, except for a small number of rewards to the Eastern King, the Northern King, and the Wing King. Hong Xiuquan's harem is very distinctive, he compares himself to the sun, calling his wife and concubine the moon, Hong Xiuquan calls himself the King of Heaven, not the emperor, so the highest status in the harem is not an empress, but a "Positive Moon Palace", but not a mortal.
According to the Taiping Tianri, the Zhengyue Palace was the wife that Hong Xiuquan married in heaven after he was "ascended to heaven" in 1837, so Hong Xiuquan's wife Lai Lianying in the mortal world could only be relegated to the second place, and was named "The Palace of the First Moon", followed by the "Twenty Palaces" that Hong Xiuquan claimed to be "the most expensive in the palace", and the rest were called the Vice Moon Palace and the Vice Moon Palace.
According to Hong Xiuquan's son Hong Tianguifu's confession that "the old king has eighty-eight wives", it shows that Hong Xiuquan was still expanding the harem in a small amount after entering Nanjing, and finally put together the auspicious figure of 88. In addition, there are female officials in the Heavenly King's Mansion, including "Tongjiao", "Tijiao", "Tongyu", and there are many titles such as "Liwen", "Li Boots", "Li Robe", "Director" and so on, most of which are "part-time" by concubines.
It can be seen from this that Hong Xiuquan's harem life was obviously much richer than that of the Xianfeng Emperor at that time. The "Jinling Military Affairs Compendium" records that "there are as many as thousands of inner chambers, and there are more than 1,200 concubines under the false king's wife, and the maids are not with them." According to this record, many people believe that Hong Xiuquan had more than a thousand wives and concubines, which is inaccurate, because there are no eunuchs in the Heavenly King's Palace, and all chores are all taken care of by female officials, most of whom are the servants of the kings and the family members of the Hong clan, many of whom are married women, who belong to the nature of "going to work" in the Heavenly King's Palace, and cannot be counted as Hong Xiuquan's wives and concubines.
Regarding the whereabouts of Hong Xiuquan's wife and concubine after the Xiang army attacked Nanjing, Zeng Guofan mentioned in "The Annihilation of all the Bandits in Jinling Kefu" that "no less than hundreds of his pseudo-palace maids hanged in the former garden, and no less than 2,000 people died in the city river." The "Taiping Tianri" also mentions that "Zeng Guofan attacked the city very urgently, and Hong Xiuquan, after the Lai clan, vowed not to surrender to Qing, with the lord Fu, Fu Li Xiucheng, together with the concubines and more than 100,000 soldiers and civilians drowned on the Yangtze River, none of them fell to Qing." This shows that after the destruction of Nanjing, most of Hong Xiuquan's wives and concubines threw themselves into the water and died, and a very small number of those who escaped were also captured by the soldiers of the Xiang Army or forcibly occupied as concubines, or were brutally humiliated, in short, Hong Xiuquan's flower-like wives and concubines finally ended up desolate, which made people sigh!
