In 1924, Lu Xun did something outside of Xi'an's lectures

In July 1924, Mr. Lu Xun, the leader of the New Culture Movement, once walked into the ancient capital of Xi'an with some professors and scholars. Arrived on July 14 and stayed in Xi'an for a total of 21 days. At Northwest University, Lu Xun taught "The Historical Changes of the Chinese Novel" 11 times for a total of 12 hours, and watched the Qin Cavity play at the famous Yi Folk Society five times. Lu Xun's trip to Xi'an left a strong mark in the history of Shaanxi. Over the years, newspapers and magazines have talked about Lu Xun's lectures in Xi'an from time to time, and there has been the publication of a monograph by modern literary researcher Shan Yanyi's "Lu Xun in Xi'an".

In fact, Mr. Lu Xun's trip to Xi'an, in addition to lectures, his other activities are also worth exploring.

On July 14, Lu Xun first arrived in Lintong. Mr. Day's day recorded: "Arrived in Lintong in the afternoon, visited the former site of the Huaqing Palace, and bathed in hot springs." Battalion Commander Zhao Qinghai beckoned for lunch. Arrived in Xi'an in the afternoon, living in the northwest university faculty dormitory... In the evening, I went for a walk with Wang Yishan and Sun Fuyuan to the nearby street market, bought a palm palm fan and returned. After arriving in Xi'an, before the summer school officially opened, Mr. Lu Xun and his friends traveled with his friends to the Forest of Monuments, The Temple of Zhanfu, the Great Ci'en Temple, the South Courtyard Gate and other historical sites, and felt the charm of the Han and Tang Dynasties that he had been thinking about for many years.

Mr. Lu Xun is very fond of inscriptions, ancient books and the like, and has specially collected and sorted out the golden stone stele posts. Therefore, during his time in Xi'an, after lecturing, he went to the South Courtyard Gate and other places almost every day to "read the market" and collect, buy or receive a number of inscriptions and antiques. After lunch on July 15, Mr. Li went to the Forest of Steles to play. The diary of the day reads: "In Bogutang, there are two kinds of stone carvings unearthed in Yaozhou, four pieces of "Wu [Cai] Clan Made Old Junxiang", one piece of "Zhang Monk's Mysterious Stele", and one piece of Gongquan Yiyuan. ...... In the evening, with Zhang Mianzhi and Sun Fuyuan reading the market, he bought two pieces of the Happy Prostitute Tu Yuren, four yuan; one piece of the four joy mirrors, two yuan; two pieces of the fish head, one yuan. "On the 16th, Sir" spent the afternoon with Li Jizhi, Jiang Tingfu, and Sun Fuyuan. On the 17th, "at noon, li, Jiang, and Sun Sanjun traveled to recommend Fu and Da Ci'en Temple", and Lu Xun successively visited Fu Temple and Da Ci En Temple. In the afternoon of the 19th, "go to the South Courtyard Gate Yangan Homestead to see the painting." On the morning of the 20th, Mr. "bought four kinds of ten pieces of miscellaneous elephant rubbings, and the spring was two yuan." On the afternoon of the 29th, "with Sun Fuyuan toured the South Courtyard Store, bought a crossbow machine, a small earth owl, a total of four yuan." There was also an antique shop owner who came to visit Lu Xun with a stele portrait and admiration. Mr. 31's daily record: "In the morning, Zun Gu Tang Ti Jia Lai bought two pieces of the "Canggong Monument" and two Yin, two pieces of the "Side Portrait of the Great Wisdom Zen Master Monument", and one piece of the "Statue of Guanyin of Wolong Temple", and one piece of the total spring. On the morning of August 1st, Mr. "and Sun Fuyuan read antiques, bought two small earth puppets, two magnetic doves, one magnetic ape head, one painted fish and dragon pottery vase, three yuan of common springs, and gave Li Jizhi the head of the ape. Buy two crossbow machines, two large ones, two small ones, one of which has a word, a total of fourteen yuan. ”

There was also a small episode in the middle, which was also recorded in the diary of the 23rd, "In the evening, I went out of school with five or six people, broke the bricks, lost my foot, injured my right knee, stopped, bought a little bread and bait, and coated the wound with iodine wine." On the evening of July 23, when mr. Five or six people stepped out of the Northwestern University campus for a walk, they accidentally fell to the ground, bruised their right knee, and then stopped the trip, returned to buy small food on the way back, returned to the dormitory, and smeared iodine wine on the injured area. On august 4, on the way back to Beijing from Shaanxi, he also visited a number of antique shops. After arriving at Tongguan on August 7, mr. Li also spent one yuan to buy ten pounds of lettuce with sauce. These are recorded in great detail in his diary.

In addition, Mr. Lu Xun watched the Qin Cavity performance of the Yi Folk Society five times in Xi'an. On July 16, Lu Xun was invited to xi'an Yi Folk Society Theater to watch a play. For the arrival of Mr. Lu Xun, Yi Folk Society took out its own housekeeper drama "Double Brocade" and performed the first half of the whole book. The play was created by the famous Qin screenwriter Lü Nanzhong based on the "Chronicle of the Song Dynasty", and premiered in the theater in 1920. In the play, the Qin Cavity roles are complete, and the appearances of life, dan, net, and ugly are all unveiled. Mr. Lu Xun was still unsatisfied after watching it, and the next day he specially watched the second half. On July 18, Mr. Lu Xun went to the Yi Folk Society for the third time to watch "The Legend of Great Filial Piety". The playful gentleman happily wrote "Moon Lang" in his diary that night to express his feelings. On July 26, Lu Xun, accompanied by his student Wang Jiesan, went to the Yi Folk Society Theater for the fourth time to watch "The Full Moon of Man". According to Sun Fuyuan, who accompanied Lu Xun to watch the play at that time, "Mr. Lu Xun used to like drama and had the ability to appreciate opera, so he was very satisfied with these programs performed by the Yi Folk Society. Every time he finishes watching a show, he always gives it a good review. He believes that Xi'an is remote and inconvenient to transportation, and it is really rare to have such a drama club with the purpose of social education and play a role in changing customs and customs. "On the evening of August 3, the Yi Folk Society acted and set up a banquet for Mr. Wang, and what drama he watched was not recorded in the diary.

It can be said that Lu Xun's current trip to Shaanxi to give lectures was still quite fruitful. The author believes that in studying Lu Xun's Xi'an lectures, we should also "pay attention" to his life sections and whereabouts outside of his lectures. This is of great benefit to restoring the real Lu Xun and comprehensively understanding and understanding Mr. Lu Xun.
