I am a new youth born in Chongqing in 1998, majoring in international politics and master's degree in Marxist philosophy. From the perspective of youth, we can see the world objectively and comprehensively!
The Sichuan-Chongqing dispute seems to be complicated, but in fact, it is broken at one point: the problems left over from Chongqing's direct administration, and the historical problems under the "Second Sichuan" pretending to be "Sichuan".

01

Liaoning cannot "impersonate" the whole northeast,
Jiangsu can not "impersonate" the whole of Jiangnan,
Henan cannot "impersonate" the entire Central Plains,
Guangdong cannot "impersonate" the whole of Lingnan,
Yichang cannot "pretend" to be the entire Three Gorges,
Erchuan can't "impersonate" the whole of Sichuan!
…………
There are too many similar cases.

[Administrative Divisions] should be distinguished from [geographical and cultural areas], and only a part of the [geographical and cultural areas] should be used to set up provinces, which will lead to the formation of estrangement between different regions and fall into endless internal friction, which is not conducive to the long-term development of [geographical and cultural areas] and "administrative districts".
Just like the current Jiangnan region, it once covered today's Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Shanghai, Anhui, Jiangxi, Hubei and other regions. However, if only Jiangsu Province is allowed to "impersonate" Jiangnan Province, the result will inevitably be that it will be caught in unlimited disputes with other regions, and it will inevitably be more difficult to implement policies such as "Integration of the Yangtze River Delta" and "Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Shanghai, Anhui and Free Shipping".
After the peaceful separation of families in the Gangnam area, everyone set up their own portals, and none of them "pretended" to be Gangnam Province. In fact, everyone is a Jiangnan region, everyone is willing to develop Jiangnan culture, and everyone is the builder and enjoyer of Jiangnan culture. The Jiangnan region has greatly reduced unnecessary internal friction, and the entire Yangtze River Delta region has divided its labor and cooperated to jointly create a world-class urban agglomeration.

We pull the time back to the Song Dynasty.
In the fourth year of the Northern Song Dynasty (1001), the Sichuan region was divided into Yizhou (present-day Chengdu), Zizhou (present-day Santai), Lizhou (present-day Guangyuan), and Kuizhou (present-day Fengjie, Chongqing), collectively known as "Chuanxia Four Roads" or "Sichuan Road". During this period, there were official positions such as Sichuan Pacification System Envoy and Sichuan Xuanfu Envoy, and the "state" at that time was called "Road" and also called "Chuan", so that "Sichuan" was named.
In the 23rd year of the Yuan Dynasty (1286), the Four Roads of Chuanxia were merged, and the Province of Zhongshu was established in Sichuan and other places, referred to as "Sichuan Province", which was the beginning of the establishment of the province for "Sichuan", and the provincial Yamen was stationed on Chengdu Road. After hundreds of years of the Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties, this is the history of "Sichuan Province" for hundreds of years.
However, since ancient times, under the golden irrigation of Dujiangyan, the agricultural economy in Sichuan has been very developed, and there are mountains blocked by east, west, south and north, which can easily form local divisions against the imperial court, so successive dynasties will weaken and divide the Sichuan region.
After hundreds of years of changes, most of Chongqing, southern Gansu, southern Shaanxi, northern Yunnan, northern Guizhou, etc., have separated from Sichuan Province and become today's Chongqing, Wanzhou, Fuling, Qianjiang, Zhaotong, Enshi, Yichang, Longnan, Liupanshui, Bijie, Hanzhong, Zunyi and so on.
So that today's Sichuan Province and the Song Dynasty named "Sichuan" coincided with the area of only about 50%, in addition to Yizhou most of the still in Sichuan Province, Lizhou, Zizhou a considerable part has been separated from Sichuan Province, most of the Prefecture has also been separated from Sichuan Province, today's Sichuan Province is actually only "Erchuan".

Therefore, today's "Erchuan" pretending to be "Sichuan" is like Cao Cao in the Three Kingdoms period", "blackmailing the Son of Heaven to order the princes", the result is of course that it cannot convince the public, and it will also cause chaos in the world. Cao Cao and Cao Pi later relied on hard power to conquer other warlords, and it was the Sima Yi family that finally unified China.
Of course, the fact that "Erchuan" is pretending to be "Sichuan" today is a problem left over from history and is not simply decided by either party. However, "Erchuan" strengthens the right to speak of the "Chuan" character everywhere, such as the so-called official and folk of Sichuan Province today, more abbreviations of "Chuan" are rarely referred to as "Shu", whether it is a license plate number or folk cuisine, whether it is opera performances or cultural works, it reflects the "Erchuan" ambition to control the cultural symbols of the "Chuan" character.
These practices are obviously in line with the current interests of "Erchuan", but they have harmed the interests of old Sichuan regions such as Chongqing, Wanzhou, Fuling, Qianjiang, Zunyi, Hanzhong, and Dongchuan.
The best way to do this is to change the name of Sichuan Province.
"Chengdu Province", "Tianfu Province", "Shuangchuan Province", "Shukang Province", "Shuyi Province", etc., are all new names that combine the actual situation and are relatively beautiful.
What do you think about that?
