Class, can mean words. The original meaning of the word "ban" is to use a knife to cut a piece of jade from it. Judging from the golden script and seal glyph of the "Ban" character, it is a "knife" inserted in the middle of the two pieces of "jade". Indicates that the jade is cut from it. "Ruiyu" is a jade relic held in the hands of ancient princes or vassals when they saw the Son of Heaven. In the Book of Shang, there is: "Qiao Siyue herds, Ban Rui is the queen of the group." This means that after Shun succeeded Yao on the throne, he asked the governor of Kyushu, the prince of the four directions, to come to see him and distribute the jade to them. The "Ban Rui" here is "Fen Rui Yu". The lishu inherits from the seal text, the "knife" is easily shaped as a "丩" shape, the letter is inherited from the lishu, and the "knife" is easy to make a little bit of skimming.

The glyph of the "Ban" character is relatively stable, and its glyph has not changed much since ancient times, but its meaning has been extended a lot. In modern Chinese, the original meaning of "class" is no longer traceable, and it is replaced by a meaning derived from the meaning of "separated". One of the most common meanings is an organization that is organized for the purpose of work or study, such as a "class" in a school that separates students of a grade or has certain special hobbies, such as a class, a physical education class, a literary class, and so on. In the army, "squads" are small grass-roots units that divide a platoon of soldiers into small units. The "shift" in the factory is to divide the day into several working hours: "morning shift", "night shift", "middle shift" and so on. In addition, there are such things as "workshops", "refresher courses", "training courses", etc., which are also some learning organizations that are divided from different natures of the population. In the old society, the troupes organized to sing opera were also called "drama classes" and so on.

Before introducing Ban Jieyu and Ban Gu, Ban Gu was a famous historian and literary scholar, and Ban Chao was indeed an anti-slave general who made the Xiongnu fearful.

The first stop in the Ban Chao Xi region is Shanshan. After arriving at Shanshan, at first Wang Guang welcomed Ban Chao and them warmly, and then became cold. Ban Chao guessed that it must be the Xiongnu emissaries who came, and the King of Shanshan tangled and did not know how to be good. So Ban Chao summoned the attendants from the Western Regions and lied to him: "I know that the Xiongnu envoys have been coming for several days, where do they live now?" When the Waiter of the Western Regions heard this, he was horrified and told the whole truth. Ban Chao locked up the waiter to prevent leaking the news.

Ban Chao told his 36 subordinates: "We had better take advantage of the night and attack them with fire, they don't know how many of us there are, they must be very panicked, we will take the opportunity to eliminate them all." King Shanshan must have been frightened. Someone asked if he wanted to discuss it with Guo. Ban Chao was worried that Guo Ren would expose them out of fear, so he decided to do this big thing in secret from him.

As soon as it was dark, Ban Chao led his subordinates to attack the Camp of the Huns. At that time, there was a strong wind, and Ban Chao ordered 10 people to take drums and hide behind the Huns' residence, and let everyone beat the drums and shout together when they saw the fire burning. Others lurked on either side of the door with weapons.

Then, Ban Chao set fire to the wind, and the people in front of and behind the residence beat drums and shouted together. The Huns panicked. The Xiongnu emissaries and their men were either killed or burned to death, and Ban Chao personally killed three of them. Then, Ban Chao summoned King Guang, who was frightened by the head of the Xiongnu emissaries and his face changed dramatically, and the country trembled.

In the end, King Shanshan was willing to submit to the Han Dynasty and send his son to the Han Dynasty as a hostage. In this way, Ban Chao, with superhuman courage and strategy, led 36 people to subdue the Shanshan Kingdom and establish the heavenly power of the Han Dynasty.

After completing his mission, Ban Chao returned to the Han Dynasty to report to Dou Gu. Dou Gu played Ban Chao's exploits to Emperor Hanming, who admired Ban Chao's boldness and strategy, and made him a military commander and ordered him to send another mission to the Western Regions. This time, the superior wanted to give Ban Chao more people, but Ban Chao only needed the original thirty people, saying that people were cumbersome.

Ban Chao sent two envoys successively, and with his wisdom and courage, he had successively restored the three states of Shanshan, Khotan, and Shule to their vassal relations with the Han Dynasty. In the seventh year of Yongyuan (95), in order to recognize Ban Chao's merits, the imperial court issued an edict to make him the Marquis of Dingyuan and the Marquis of Qianhu, which was called "Ban Dingyuan" by posterity, and Shi Cheng Wanli was enfeoffed.

In the twelfth year of Yongyuan (100), Ban Chao wrote to the emperor and asked to return to his hometown, and his sister Ban Zhao also wrote to request that Ban Chao be recalled. After the song was delivered, Emperor He was moved, so he summoned Ban Chao back to the dynasty. Ban Chao spent thirty-one years in the Western Regions.

In September of the fourteenth year of Yongyuan, Ban Chao died in Luoyang at the age of seventy-one. In the "Biography of the Seventeen Histories and Hundred Generals" written during the Northern Song Dynasty, Ban Chao was among them.
