In September 2014, Wang Xiayu was named the fourth monthly star in Weifang
Wang Xiayu, a high school graduate of Weifang No. 4 Middle School in 2016; was admitted to the engineering experimental class of Tianjin University in the same year, majoring in measurement and control technology and instrumentation, during the study period, he successively won the national scholarship, the three good student scholarships, the outstanding students of Tianjin University (top 2%), the student science and technology talents, the top ten outstanding young people of the Jingyi College, the three good students, the advanced individuals and many other honors, and in 2019, he was sent to Pennsylvania State University in the United States for study and exchange. In 2020, he was sent to Tsinghua University to study instrument science and technology at Tsinghua University. He is currently a second-year doctoral student in the Department of Precision Instruments, under the tutelage of Academician You Zheng, whose research direction is MEMS and intelligent microsystems.
"Wang Xiayu: I want to say to my alma mater" In 2013, I entered the school gate of Weifang No. 4 Middle School, and to this day, although I have graduated for more than five years, I still think back to the days when I studied at No. 4 Middle School. I have been there to learn, fight, imagine, laugh, and I have been lost and confused there, and it is the confidence education of my alma mater that has opened my potential. From the sound of books in the morning light, to the hard-working books under the shadow of the stars; from self-adjustment after setbacks, to the confidence and calmness of facing the college entrance examination in June. What is even more memorable is the mentor who nurtured me and the friends who talked and encouraged each other together. In the cold and summer, Weifang No. 4 Middle School carries too many precious memories for me; and it is also a blessing for me to be able to experience these beauties in Weifang No. 4 Middle School.
The most important thing to thank is every teacher I met in the fourth. In the face of a group of seventeen or eighteen-year-old students who are full of exploration of the world and at the same time have countless confusions, the teacher not only preaches and teaches us in learning, but also cares about our lives and our growth. "Hydrogen helium lithium beryllium boron in class, Jin Yong Liang Yusheng after class", a chemistry teacher who mingled with students; a biology teacher who was affectionately called "Dabai" but always alerted us when slackening; a math teacher who did not smile and was meticulous in thinking; a physics teacher who was conscientious and responsible and tirelessly answered questions for me; a knowledgeable Chinese teacher who made me feel the charm of literature, and I still insist on the habit of reading; and the class teacher Wang Guixia's bowl of hot ginger soup in winter and March. The patient psychological guidance when the students were anxious and irritable made me understand the meaning of loving children like children. I believe that these noble qualities that shine in all the teachers of Weifang No. 4 Middle School are the best interpretation of the school's teaching style of "teaching with pleasure and treating life as children".
After graduating, I often wondered what I had gained in the four years. Solid mathematical knowledge, rigorous scientific attitude? Self-improvement spirit, humanistic feelings? All of this, but I think the most important thing is that Weifang No. 4 Middle School provides a good platform for us to slowly discover ourselves, know ourselves, and strengthen ourselves under the guidance of confidence education, get along with other outstanding students, and explore the knowledge of each subject at a deeper level. Aristotle once said that we should live a life that is appropriate for the best part of us. The exploration of ourselves may be a long-term process from high school to college, but the fourth middle school has undoubtedly laid a solid foundation for us. The school motto of "The Great Beauty of The Thick Heaven and earth, the Supreme Truth of All Things", together with "Seeking Truth from Facts" and "Self-Improvement, Virtue and Carrying Things", has become a beacon for me to move forward, teaching me to be down-to-earth and guiding me to seek up and down.
Finally, I feel sincerely happy to see my alma mater relocate to a new school and flourish. I hope that the students can make full use of the superior conditions, cherish the days of studying and living in the fourth middle school, and spend three years of fullness without regrets. I wish you all a better future.
