Unique to China, sea cauliflower is a rare and endangered submerged plant under national key protection. Erhai sea rafting, blue waves, clear water to the bottom, Erhai Treasure Sea Cauliflower, also known as water-based poplar flower, dragon's claw, water cabbage, sea cauliflower, sea eggplant, water greens, water lettuce, etc., is a perennial aquatic herb of the water turtle family.
Sea cauliflower grows in the Erhai Sea all year round. Erhai, ancient name Kunming Pond, Erhe River, Ye Yuze and so on. The annual water temperature of Dali Erhai Lake is between 1 °C and -21 °C, and the vertical distribution of water temperature has the characteristics of positive thermosphere, which does not freeze all year round, and belongs to the subtropical lake (warm lake). Transparency of 4 meters, seasonal variation is significant, the rainy season is smaller, the dry season is higher. According to the monitoring results in December 1985, the average transparency is 5.4 meters, the maximum transparency is 8 meters, the water color is light blue, and the chroma is 6.625. The water quality is colorless and odorless, and it belongs to the clean grade bicarbonate calcium magnesium type freshwater lake, and the nutritional status is medium nutrient type.
In 1981, it was approved by the People's Government of Yunnan Province to establish the Cangshan Erhai Nature Reserve, and in 1994 it was promoted to the national level, and the main protection objects are freshwater lakes and aquatic animals and plants on the plateau, the natural landscape of the transition zone between the north and the south, and the remains of glaciers, with an area of 79,700 hectares. This "rich" vegetable, the growth conditions are harsh, can only grow in pure living spring water, the slightest pollution of water quality or the application of chemical fertilizers in the farmland will affect its growth.
