The Nineteenth Route Army fought

Cai Tingkai and Jiang Guangnai were both Cantonese and became friends when they participated in the anti-Japanese war together. After the Battle of the Central Plains, the Nationalist government incorporated the Nineteenth Route Army, and Cai jiang and Jiang were the top commanders of the army. Cai Tingkai and Jiang Guangnai's political ideas are also consistent, and they all believe that the policy of non-resistance is wrong. In the Battle of Songhu, the two led the Nineteenth Route Army to resist the Japanese and defend Shanghai, achieving the glory of the famous anti-Japanese generals.

As soon as the "Songhu War of Resistance" ended, Chiang Kai-shek ordered the dismemberment of the Nineteenth Route Army, and one division was transferred to Jiangxi to be under the command of the Nanchang camp, one division to Wuhan to be under the command of the Wuhan camp, and one division to Anhui. Soon, the Nineteenth Route Army was transferred to suppress the Communists. Cai Tingkai served as the commander-in-chief of the 19th Route Army and director of the Suijing Office stationed in Fujian, and Jiang Guangnai served as chairman of the Fujian government, and from then on the two were completely marginalized in the Kuomintang military circles.

After the victory of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, a situation was formed in which the two major forces of the Kuomintang and the Communist Party competed for the world, and both the NLD and the marginal forces within the Kuomintang lost their right to speak, and it seemed that only the choice between the Kuomintang and the Communists was left. Cai Tingkai and Jiang Guangnai were both very discerning soldiers, and Chiang Kai-shek's defeat was seen soon after the Civil War. In January 1948, Li Jishen, Cai Tingkai, Jiang Guangnai and others established the Revolutionary Committee of the Chinese Kuomintang. Soon, the Communist Party of China issued the "May Day Slogan", and the Kuomintang Revolutionary Committee immediately responded. As marginal people in the Kuomintang military circles, their defection to the Communist Party has become the "mainstream", which can also be regarded as a kind of return.

Cai Tingkai and Jiang Guangnai talked about state affairs and family affairs together

After liberation, Cai Tingkai and Jiang Guangnai lived together at No. 17, Along the Head of Dongdangou in Beijing, and there were two rows of east-west houses in the courtyard, Cai Tingkai lived in the front row and Jiang Guangnai lived in the back row. There is a grape in the front yard, producing a large and sweet "Xinjiang horse milk" grape, every Mid-Autumn Festival, the two families are together, grapes are always delicious on the table. The two rows of houses are connected by a corridor, and on the east side of the corridor there is a garden with lilacs, begonias and peony flowers. The two elderly people often talk about family affairs and state affairs in the garden, and the two families spend several years together in a peaceful environment. At that time, it was a family that really demolished the wall, and it was also a family that did not tear down the wall. Later, the children of the two families came to Beijing from Hong Kong one after another and could not live there. Cai Tingkai's family moved to No. 27 Shibei Hutong.

Every summer, Cai Tingkai and Jiang Guangnai go to Beidaihe for a vacation together. The State Council Administration of Organ Affairs deliberately arranged the two families in a small villa adjacent to each other. Jiang Guangnai's family lives at No. 81 Dongjing Road, and Cai Tingkai's family is at No. 82; every time they take a vacation, the children of the two families also follow and play together on the deserted beach in Beidaihe.

Jiang Guangnai's son Jiang Jianguo recalled: In the summer of 1965, on the balcony of No. 9 Beach in Beidaihe, Cai Tingkai and Jiang Guangnai were chatting in the afternoon, and neighbor Deng Baoshan and his daughter took a walk. "I said no. Cai Tingkai said: "How to do that, young people do not learn how to do, there must always be a place to learn." Cai Tingkai said to Deng Baoshan: "Ah Guo is working in Gansu, and asked him to join the Gansu Provincial People's Revolutionary Committee and study well." At that time, Deng Baoshan was vice chairman of the Central Committee of the Kuomintang Revolutionary Committee, governor of Gansu Province, and chairman of the Provincial Committee of the Kuomintang. Deng Baoshan smiled and said, "Good! Go back to Lanzhou and find me. Jiang Guangnai interjected: "Do you still want to find a successor?" Our generation is dead. "This time is the last time the two families have vacationed in Beidaihe, and when they left, they also left some kitchen utensils, electric irons and other things that are not easy to move in Beidaihe Villa, waiting to come back next year." Unfortunately, the "Cultural Revolution" broke out in the new year.

Jiang Guangnai and Zhou Enlai

Zhou Enlai: "Wait a minute, Cai Tingkai hasn't come in yet"

During the anti-rightist movement in 1957, Cai Tingkai's old superior and old friend Chen Mingshu was branded a rightist, and this time Cai Tingkai and Jiang Guangnai were also doomed. Jiang Guangnai's home was first raided by the Red Guards. After the Red Guards left, Jiang Guangnai urgently ordered his wife Huang Wanxia to call Cai Tingkai and ask Cai to be mentally prepared, not to be impulsive, not to be angry, and not to suffer a big loss. Cai Tingkai was very angry after answering the phone, hung up the phone, he did not say a word, pacing back and forth in the house. Fortunately, on August 30, Zhou Enlai personally drew up a "list of cadres who should be protected." The list begins with 13 high-level democrats, including Jiang Guangnai and Cai Tingkai whose names are once again linked.

In May 1967, Cai Tingkai and his wife Rosio went to visit Jiang Guangnai, who was seriously ill, and walked into the room only to see Jiang Guangnai lying on the bed, covering the light with his hands and closing his eyes, that is, using gestures to signal not to be alarmed. Cai Tingkai walked to the hospital bed and stopped for a long time, with mixed feelings. He suddenly turned back, pulled out a white handkerchief, and wiped his tears. Suddenly, Jiang Guangnai said, "The eldest husband regards death as a homecoming, what is so sad about it?" Cai Tingkai turned around, raised his voice and replied: "Yes, we have experienced hundreds of battles for decades, and we will die long ago, and we have put life and death aside, and we can live enough until now." ”

At Jiang Guangnai's memorial service, when Zhou Enlai and other leaders entered, Vice Minister Chen Weiji, who presided over the memorial service, was just about to speak, and Zhou Enlai signaled him not to speak. Then, Zhou En, said, "Wait a minute, Cai Tingkai hasn't come in yet." He knew very well that the names of Cai Tingkai and Jiang Guangnai would be recorded in the annals of history together forever.

Ms. Rosio later recalled: After the memorial service, Cai Tingkai cried for three days and three nights, and her spirits were devastated, and less than a year later, on April 25, 1968, she also passed away.
