This lifelong quest stemmed from a conversation more than 70 years ago.

Diligent in her thinking, she constantly reforms and innovates her nursing work. In her daily nursing work, Zhang Jinyuan found that every time a nurse went to the ward to change the sheets, the patient always left the bed in pain and ran outside the door. After several inquiries, it was learned that the patient was trying to avoid the dust raised when changing the duvet cover. So, when she came home from work, she picked up the quilt and dismantled the set, and finally studied the method of folding and dismantling the bed, which is still in clinical use. It is estimated that the dust raised by the use of the inner folding and dismantling of the bed method has been reduced by more than half.
This is just one of more than 30 clinical inventions of nursing work by Zhang Jinyuan, and theories such as the itinerant nursing system she founded have also been selected into nursing textbooks.
In 1992, Zhang Jinyuan retired, which was also a new starting point in her life, from the hospital to the community, to a broader world of volunteer nursing services.
At the call of Zhang Jinyuan, 17 retired nurses in Nanchang City formed the "Xue Lei Feng Group" engaged in volunteer nursing services. "Let nursing go to the community and the masses, let the people understand nursing, and family care" has become her new work goal.

On May 12, 2008, after the Wenchuan earthquake, she rushed to the hard-hit area with her colleagues to save her life at Xiang'e Middle School, digging in the ruins with her bare hands and crying while planing. She also lost her 6-year-old daughter in the earthquake.
"So many people are affected by the disaster, there can be no delay, busy with rescue during the day, can not take care of their own small family." Recalling that painful experience, Yang Qiu's eyes were moist, and the huge trauma made her love the profession of nurse even more.
"During the earthquake, nurses brought comfort to the injured, brought hope for life, let me see the greatness of this profession, and inspired me to work harder and live up to the white clothes on my body." Yang Qiu said.
Yang Qiu opened a midwifery clinic in the hospital to provide professional guidance to expectant mothers to help them welcome the arrival of new life.
