Recently, the Hangzhou Municipal People's Government officially approved and agreed to list the Hangda New Village area as a historical and cultural block in Hangzhou. The area of the block protection area is divided into baochu road in the east, Shuguang road in the south, Hangda road in the west, and Tianmushan road in the north, with a total land area of about 22.12 hectares. The scope of specific protected areas is further clarified when preparing the protection plan for historic districts. Characteristics of the value of the block: Hangda New Village truly records the history of the residence and life of professors of Hangzhou University in the early days of the founding of New China, and is an inseparable part of the history of Hangzhou's education development; the Memorial Hall of the Martyrs of the Anti-Japanese War, the Ancient Official Road of Xixi Road, and the Yanshan River (Xixi River) are the memory space remnants of Hangzhou's urban change. The surrounding railway villages, friendship villages and Hangzhou New Villages together witnessed the development history of Hangzhou civil engineering in the early days of the founding of New China, and the area has unique historical value and humanistic value. The announcement of the block complements the protection type of Hangzhou historical and cultural block and enriches the connotation of the protection of Hangzhou's famous historical and cultural city.
