On October 27th, the "Red Cross Eye Care Project" Sichuan Provincial Project Launch Symposium was held in Chengdu. The "Red Cross Eye Care Project" was initiated by the Red Cross Society of China, implemented by the Red Cross Foundation of China, and supported by the Love eye public welfare foundation. As one of the first seven pilot provinces of the project, Sichuan Province will provide public welfare services such as eye health examination and health education for primary and secondary school students in the province, benefiting more than 600,000 people. On September 29, the project was officially launched in Beijing. In the next five years, the "Red Cross Eye Care Project" is expected to be carried out in 468 schools in 21 prefectures, cities and prefectures in Sichuan Province, with about 3.64 million screening and archiving services.

According to reports, the eye health volunteer service team in Sichuan Province has cooperated with the local government to carry out the prevention and control of myopia in adolescents for 11 consecutive years, accumulating valuable experience and forming a "green sheep model". From 2019 to the first half of 2021, Aier Ophthalmology Sichuan Hospital cooperated with the local government to survey the eyesight of students with a total of 1.189 million person-times, covered 216,000 people with science education, and distributed nearly 600,000 copies of eye health science popularization materials. The myopia rate of the student group in which it intervened has decreased year by year, and it is currently lower than the overall myopia rate of children and adolescents in China by 52.7%. Based on real data and supported by scientific conclusions, the "Qingyang Model" has strongly assisted the formulation of myopia control programs in local schools.
