According to the Guilin Municipal Intermediate People's Court, on the morning of 28 October, the Guilin City Intermediate People's Court of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region publicly pronounced a verdict in the first instance on the bribery case of Wang Yong, a former member of the CPPCC leading group and vice chairman of the Hainan Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, and sentenced the defendant Wang Yong to life imprisonment for accepting bribes, deprivation of political rights for life, and confiscation of all personal property; and the property and fruits of Wang Yong's crime of accepting bribes were recovered and handed over to the state treasury. Wang Yong said in court that he would obey the court's judgment and would not appeal.

After trial, it was ascertained that from 2000 to 2014, defendant Wang Yong took advantage of his position as secretary of the Chengmai County CPC Committee of Hainan Province, secretary and director of the party leading group and director of the Hainan Provincial Department of Communications, deputy secretary of the Sanya Municipal CPC Committee, vice mayor, acting mayor, mayor of the Sanya Municipal People's Government, etc., to provide assistance to relevant units and individuals in matters such as project approval, change of land nature, project contracting, and job promotion, and illegally accepted property given by relevant personnel, totaling 90.472259 million yuan.

The Guilin Municipal Intermediate People's Court held that defendant Wang Yong's conduct constituted the crime of accepting bribes in accordance with law. Wang Yong accepted a particularly large amount of bribes, and in view of the fact that after he arrived at the case, he voluntarily confessed some of the facts of the crime of accepting bribes that the case-handling organs had not yet grasped, truthfully confessed other facts of the crime of accepting bribes, confessed his guilt and repented of his crimes, actively returned the stolen goods, and all the stolen money and stolen goods had been recovered, and he could be given a lenient punishment in accordance with law. The Tribunal accordingly rendered the above-mentioned judgment.

In July last year, he was investigated, and in January this year, he was "double-opened".

After investigation, Wang Yong lost the party's ideals and convictions, discounted and made changes in the implementation of the major policy decisions and arrangements of the party Central Committee, promoted reclamation projects in violation of the law and caused serious consequences; colluded with others to make confessions, resisted organizational review, and arranged for others to pretend and perform at the party's democratic life meeting; ignored the spirit of the eight central regulations, went in and out of private clubs in violation of the law, and accepted activity arrangements that might affect the fair performance of official duties; did not truthfully explain problems when organizing correspondence, and provided assistance to others in matters such as promotion and resettlement of others in violation of regulations Accepting gifts and gifts in violation of the law, having an unhealthy family style, engaging in profit-making activities in violation of the law, using the influence of one's position to help family members contract insurance business and engage in power transactions; interfering in judicial activities; acting arbitrarily, using the power in their hands as a tool for trading, seeking benefits for others in planning and adjustment, contracting projects, and enterprise operations, and illegally accepting huge amounts of money and property.

According to the public resume, Wang Yong was born in February 1957, worked as a worker and political work officer in Liaocheng Electric Machinery Factory, entered the Beizhen Normal College in 1978 Chinese professional study, and worked in the Organization Department of the Huimin Prefectural Committee in 1980.

After 1981, Wang Yong successively served in the Beizhen Youth League Committee, the Yanggu County Youth League Committee, and the Shandong Provincial Youth League Committee, and in April 1991, he was appointed as the full-time deputy secretary of the Party Committee of the Shandong Provincial Committee of the Communist Youth League. Four months later, in August 1991, Wang Yong was transferred to the secretary of the Discipline Inspection Committee of The Hainan Machinery Industry Corporation. Later, he served as deputy secretary of the party committee and deputy director (deputy general manager) of the Hainan Machinery Industry Bureau (head office).

After 1996, Wang Yong successively served as deputy director of the Hainan Provincial Social Security Bureau, assistant inspector of the Department of Personnel and Labor Security, secretary of the Chengmai County Party Committee (deputy department level), and director of the Hainan Provincial Department of Communications in 2005.

In 2008, Wang Yong was appointed acting mayor of Sanya, later mayor, and in October 2014, he was transferred to the United Front Work Department of the Hainan Provincial Party Committee. In January 2016, Wang Yong served as vice chairman of the Hainan Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference until July 2020.

On February 27, 2009, Wang Yong was elected mayor of Sanya.
