On December 26, 2002, the Sichuan Provincial Higher People's Court rendered the (1999) Chuan Xing Zhong Zi No. 444 Final Ruling, upholding the Chengdu Railway Transport Intermediate Court's judgment that Li Jin had been convicted of robbery and sentenced to life imprisonment, and found that "(Li Jin) entered the house with a crowbar and a dagger and hit and stabbed Yao Suhua and Bai Helin, who were sleeping in the window and on the adjacent bed, to the head and chest, which eventually led to the death of the two victims.

Li Jin said that when he was working in Yingjiang, Yunnan Province, 700 kilometers away, when the case occurred, Li Jin's boss also confirmed this statement to Li Jin's lawyer and upstream journalists.

The reporter learned in the interview that in the first and second trials of the robbery cases involving Li Jin, there was no objective evidence to confirm that he appeared at the scene of the murder, the fingerprints and footprints collected at the scene could not be confirmed to be left by Li Jin, and the Chengdu Railway Transportation Branch of the Sichuan Provincial People's Procuratorate also held in the first-instance protest of the case that the trial procedure of the case was seriously illegal.
