King Chen Yucheng was one of the main generals of the late Taiping Heavenly Kingdom, and the bravest and most warlike of the young generals in the Taiping Army, but unfortunately he was betrayed by traitors and executed by Ling Chi.

Regarding Chen Yucheng's death, a notebook of Qing Dynasty literati, "The Chronicle of captivity", records the whole process of Chen Yucheng's retreat to Luzhou after the defeat of the Anqing Defense War, and finally being deceived by Miao Pilin and being delayed by the Qing army.
It is said that the author is a reader named Zhao Yucun, who joined the Taiping Army in 1861 and fled back to his hometown after the failure of the uprising, recording some of his observations in the Taiping Army. But perhaps to avoid it, in the notes, he claimed to have been abducted by the Taiping Army.
In the book, after the fall of Anqing, Chen Yucheng retreated to Luzhou, and was again besieged by the Qing army Duolong Abu. At this time, Miao Peilin, the king of song, sent a beggar to Chen Yucheng's camp. The beggar had a bamboo stick in his hand, and the bamboo knot had been opened and a letter was stuffed inside. In the letter, Miao Peilin said: The isolated city of Luzhou is difficult to defend, and he has four banners of men and horses under his command, one banner of 300,000, which can help Chen Yucheng attack Beijing. As long as you get The Capital, the north of the Yellow River can be on its own.
Miao Peilin was originally a fallen Xiucai, who had held regimental training to suppress peasant uprisings, and later surrendered to the Taiping Army, repeated several times. The Taiping Heavenly Kingdom made him the King of Song, and the Great Seal was sent by Chen Yucheng himself. At this time, seeing that the Taiping Army in Anhui was gradually defeated and retreated, only an isolated city of Luzhou remained, and it had already surrendered to Shengbao.
Chen Yucheng didn't know anything, and when he saw the letter, he felt that it made sense, and called a group of subordinates to discuss. Someone advised him: I heard that Miao Peilin had defected to Katsuho, was capricious, and could not go. Some people also advised him to return to Tianjing first and regroup.
This, on the contrary, annoyed Chen Yucheng, who said loudly: Since the president used the army, he will win the battle and attack will win, although he is humble enough to listen to good words, this time, what Er and others said, they have greatly disregarded my will.
In the middle of the night on April 13, Chen Yucheng gave the order to go out of the north gate, rush away, and break through to Shouzhou.
When Chen Yucheng broke through from Luzhou, there were 100,000 horses and horses, and they were killed by Qing troops and civilians along the way, leaving only 2,000 people in Shouzhou.
When they arrived in Shouzhou, Miao Pilin did not dare to see Chen Yucheng, but only asked his nephew Miao Tianqing to arrange for him to stay. At dinnertime, Miao Tianqing came out in a blue-topped flower plume, saying that his uncle had surrendered to the Qing Dynasty and invited the King to enjoy the glory and wealth together.
Chen Yucheng knew that he had been deceived, and he was furious and said: Uncle Er is really a rogue villain! There is a grass at the head of the wall, and the wind blows on both sides; the dragon wins the dragon, and the tiger wins the tiger. In the future, not even a thief's name will fall. The president can only be killed, not disgraced. It's over, see how you fall?
Chen Yucheng's group of people wanted to do something, but he persuaded him to stop it.
On the third day, Miao Peilin gave Chen Yucheng to Shengbao. Shengbao's men told Chen Yucheng to kneel, and Chen Yucheng, seeing that he was Shengbao, scolded: Ersheng child, the first wrong country in the demon dynasty. The president was the founding father of the country in the Heavenly Dynasty, and the president washed Hubei three times and the nine under the Jiangnan. Run when you see the battle. At the Baishi Mountain, the entire army was destroyed, and Er took more than ten horses to hold their heads and run away. I call Rao a life. How can I be worthy of kneeling on you? Good not to be self-respecting objects!
When Dolonga heard this, Xiao Shengbao was not exquisite and humiliated himself, if he caught Chen Yucheng himself, treated him with courtesy, did not meet him, and listened to the judgment of the Holy Will.
In another historical material, "Chen Yucheng's Capture", it is said that Yucheng was earned by Miao Peilin and was solved to Shengbaoying. Yu Chengjin, Katsuho sat high, and said, "Why don't you kneel?" Yu Chengyue: "King Wuying, not Cheng Tianyu, Xi kneels for!" If Erben I lose, why should I behave?" Katsuho said, "But then you can catch it for me?" Yu Chengyue: "I have thrown myself into the net, won't I have the power of Er?" I die today, and the Miao thief dies tomorrow. Eryu remembers hefei guanting, Er cavalry 20,000, after the war with me, is there a one?"
Katsuho was silent. Give wine and food, persuade him to surrender, Yu Chengri: "When the doctor dies, he will die, and he raps also!" "It is to kill." Died at the age of twenty-six.
Chen Yucheng was crowned king of England, and Katsuho called his previous official position Cheng Tianyu, which was also a kind of humiliation, no wonder Chen Yucheng would be angry.
There are two theories about Chen Yucheng's death, and it is said in the "Records of The Shengbao Incident" that after Shengbao was scolded by Chen Yucheng, he was ashamed and was imprisoned. Extravagant and extravagant, hoping to perform the great ceremony of sacrifice and captivity to honor its merits. The reply rebukes him for his arrogance, and orders him to straighten out the Fa on the spot,
That is to say, Katsuho sang the song, saying that he had captured Chen Yucheng and wanted to escort him to Beijing and offer captivity to ask for merit, but he was reprimanded by the imperial court and let the law be rectified on the spot.
The "Chronicle of the Captivity" records that the imperial court asked Chen Yucheng to be escorted to the capital, but when he went to Yanjin County in Henan And met the monk Gelinqin, he ordered Chen Yucheng to be sent to the capital as the first rank.
Chen Yucheng's death was certainly caused by his excessive credulity in Miao Peilin. However, at that time, it was only a matter of time before the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom collapsed, and Chen Yucheng did not die at that time, but he was afraid that in a few years, when the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom fell, he would also be killed by the Qing army like Li Xiucheng and Hong Rengui.
Fortunately, Chen Yucheng had a wife, Jiang Guiniang, who fled to Tianjing with her son, and after the fall of the Kingdom of Heaven, fled to Yongxing, Hunan, and still has his descendants.
Later, Katsuho was transferred to Shaanxi to suppress the Hui uprising, and was eventually given death because of his arrogance and lawlessness. After Katsuho's death, Miao Pilin had no one to rely on, and once again raised an army to rebel, which was suppressed by the monk Gelinqin, and Miao Peilin was killed by his men. Just in response to Chen Yucheng's prophecy: I will die today, and miao thieves will die tomorrow.
There is also a legend that Chen Yucheng had a beautiful wife who fell into the hands of Katsuho and was very favored. After Katsuho's accident, she was abducted by another Manchu officer, Deleng, probably a boring literati spreading rumors.
The notebook "The Chronicle of the Captivity" is simple and seems to be true, but there are still many places that feel exaggerated, such as writing that Chen Yucheng has 1.2 million soldiers and horses under him, writing that Chen Yucheng and Shengbao fought more than forty battles, each time losing, and the Taiping Army called Shengbao a child, saying that he led the troops like a child's play. However, as a personal witness to the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom, the accounts also provide us with valuable information for studying the history of the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom.
