On November 12th, the award ceremony of the Chen Bochui International Children's Literature Award, which has been held for seven consecutive years, arrived as scheduled, and major awards were awarded at the Shanghai Baoshan International Folk Art Expo Center. As one of the world-class cultural brands that Shanghai focuses on building, the Chen Bochui International Children's Literature Award has always strived to compete with the "Hans Christian Andersen Literature Award" and lead the global children's reading trend. Chen Jie, secretary of the Baoshan District Party Committee, said that the Fifth Plenary Session of the 19th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China clearly proposed that by 2035, it is necessary to build a cultural power and enhance the influence of Chinese culture. As an important starting point for Baoshan to promote a strong cultural area, the "Chen Bochui International Children's Literature Award" is the first literary award in China named after a famous writer, with the longest continuous operation time and the largest number of award-winning writers. As one of the literary awards with the longest continuous operation and the most award-winning writers in China, the predecessor of the "Chen Bochui International Children's Literature Award" was the "Children's Literature Gardener Award" established by Mr. Chen Bochui, a famous Chinese children's literature giant. In 2014, the Municipal Press and Publication Bureau, the Baoshan District People's Government and the Professional Committee of the Chen Bochui Children's Literature Fund cooperated to jointly promote it to China's first international children's literature award, and the award ceremony was permanently settled in Baoshan. This international cultural brand not only branches and leaves in Baoshan, but also leverages the international resources of the Shanghai International Children's Book Fair to stride out of Baoshan, out of Shanghai, out of the country, and onto the world stage. In the past seven years, nearly 700 activities have been carried out, and the number of participants has exceeded 10 million.

According to reports, this year's award committee is composed of famous Chinese and foreign children's literature writers, literary critics, illustrators and publishers. Although the launch time is later than in previous editions, this year's Chen Bochui International Children's Literature Award has received positive responses from major Chinese and foreign children's book publishing institutions, receiving a total of 104 kinds of books (written works) that meet the requirements; and receiving 146 kinds of picture book works from 15 countries and regions such as the United States, Britain, France, Spain, Canada, Poland, Belgium, Portugal, India, Israel, and the Philippines. A major feature of this year's participating literary books is that realist works account for a considerable proportion, some depicting how teenagers cope with the hardships of life during the lockdown in Wuhan, and some writing about the life choices of rural teenagers in the construction of the new socialist countryside in the face of the changes of the times. The writers use their superior imagination to show the rich inner world of Chinese children, and with the pure and beautiful brushstrokes that are deeply rooted in the hearts of the people and the romantic and poetic innocence language, they make the ordinary and simple growth stories interesting and interesting, and add the infinite possibilities of happy reading to the works. The picture book works collected from all over the world have unique perspectives and divine forms, conveying the common emotions of different cultural backgrounds and interpreting the uniqueness of excellent picture book works that can span languages and countries. This year, the creators of both painting and writing have attracted the attention of the judges, who have depicted a childlike fantasy world with their full imagination and ingenious artistic conception, and have shown a high level of visual storytelling ability.
In the final evaluation stage, 6 domestic judges and 3 international judges jointly judged and selected this year's winning works through online review meetings. I hope that in the period when the epidemic is still spreading, we will convey the tenacious faith and warm strength through excellent children's literature works. In the end, 10 winning works finally stood out and won the grand prize.

Ed Young is a Chinese-American illustrator. Born in 1931 in Tianjin, China, he grew up in Shanghai and later went to Hong Kong, China, and settled in the United States. His illustrations have a strong Chinese flavor, and he has won the Caddick Award, the highest honor in the Field of American Children's Literature, three times. He has created about 100 picture book works, such as "The Princess's Kite", "Wolf Mother", "Seven Blind Mice", etc., which have won numerous honors, including one gold medal and two honorary awards of the Caddick Award, the highest award in the American children's book industry, the Lifetime Achievement Award awarded by the American Illustrators Association, the international Hans Christian Andersen Award twice nominated, and the work was selected as one of the top ten picture books of the New York Times.

Zhang Qiusheng, born in Shanghai, a native of Jinghai County, Tianjin, is a famous Chinese children's writer. His major works include "The Woodpecker Squad", "Rose Flowers on Campus", "Burn It, Bonfire", "The Story of Three Hu Dagang" and so on. His works have won the Chen Bochui Children's Literature Award, the National Excellent Children's Literature Award of the Chinese Writers Association, and the Song Qingling Children's Literature Award.
Focusing on the brand of "Chen Bochui International Children's Literature Award", the "1+6+X" series of activities are carried out every year, including: Shanghai Book Fair: Chen Bochui Children's Book House; Chen Bochui International Children's Literature Classics Recitation Exhibition and Performance Activity; Chen Bochui International Children's Literature Award Original Illustration Exhibition; International Children's Literature Famous Writers Entering the School Activity; "Child's Heart" on the Tip of the Pen - Chen Bochui Children's Literature Creation Competition; Children's Drama Creation competition, etc.

"Reading Classics • Lighting Children's Hearts" Chen Bochui International Children's Literature Award Classic Works Recitation Exhibition and Performance Activity opened in the "Cloud". After the promotion of public libraries in various provinces and cities, the Yangtze River Delta region and the municipal language committee, and the independent registration of individuals and social organizations, more than 2,000 domestic and foreign works were received, and it is planned to hold exhibition and performance activities in early December.

Baoshan's Chen Bochui Education Group covers 7 schools in the district, taking reading and writing as the foundation of Chen Bochui's education system, highlighting the educational function of children's literature.
