On November 26, Longmen County was awarded the "Hometown of Chinese Bees" plaque by the Chinese Beekeeping Society. The award of this honor is not only a full affirmation of the bee breeding industry in Longmen County, but also a strong promotion of the organization, scale and industrialization of bee farming in Longmen County, laying a solid foundation for the local bee farmers to become rich and prosperous.
It is understood that Longmen is a large beekeeping county, and bee breeding has a long history. As early as the Song Dynasty, there were bees distributed in Longmen; the "Longmen County Chronicle" of the Kangxi Period of the Qing Dynasty has a record of "honey". After the founding of New China, the beekeeping industry in Longmen developed rapidly. In 2000, the bee colony of Longmen already accounted for one-tenth of the total beekeeping in Guangdong Province, so there is a saying that "10 nests of bees in Guangdong, and 1 nest in Longmen". In 2012, Longmen County was rated as "National Beekeeping Demonstration County" and was also listed as "National Bee Industry Technology System Demonstration County". In 2018, Longmen Honey obtained the National Agricultural Product Geographical Indication Registration Certificate.
Longmen beekeeping has a long history and a large scale of breeding
According to Lin Weizhong, director of the Longmen County Beekeeping Research Institute, there are two main criteria for the selection of "Chinese Bee Town", namely, the long history of beekeeping and the scale of bee breeding should reach more than 50,000 groups, and Longmen County has successfully been evaluated with a long history of beekeeping and a huge scale of breeding.
It is understood that Longmen County is located in the tropical subtropics, abundant rainfall, warm climate, honey source plant resources are abundant, the variety reaches more than 160 kinds, a year of spring, summer, winter three seasons can harvest commercial honey, especially in winter there are duck foot wood, wild osmanthus flowers, loquat and so on, with high and stable production characteristics.
"The bees raised in The Dragon Gate are all South China type chinese bees (referred to as 'middle bees'), which are raised in modern live frames. At present, the scale of breeding reaches about 130,000 groups, with an annual output of 2,500 tons, an output value of more than 100 million yuan, and more than 2,700 people in the bee industry. According to Lin Weizhong, Longmen has a number of professional bee farms with a certain scale, each beekeeper has undergone professional training, and most of them have the "National Bee Product Safety and Standardized Production Technology" training certificate of the Chinese Beekeeping Society, and some of them have obtained the "National Occupational Skills of Bee Breeders" appraisal certificate.
Party building leads to help build a "sweet" cause
In order to better serve local beekeepers, the Longmen County Beekeeping Research Institute took the lead in organizing 65 beekeepers to establish the Longmen County Beekeeping Association, and established a party branch in August 2012 and a general party branch in March 2018, with 10 party branches under it, distributed in various townships. At present, there are 62 bee farmer party members in the county.
It is understood that under the leadership of the county party committee and county government, the county beekeeping research institute implements the established decision-making on the development of the bee industry, takes the party branch as a platform, continuously plays the role of bridge and link, and forms an industrialized development model of "general party branch + farmers (poor households) + farmers' professional cooperatives + breeding demonstration villages (bases) + leading enterprises", and beekeepers want to be together and work together to enhance the appeal and influence of party branches in serving bee farmers.
Lin Weizhong said that the Longmen County Beekeeping Association, led by the General Branch of the Party and taking the Dragon Bee Ecological Beekeeping Demonstration Base as a platform, carries out technical training, technical exchanges and consulting services for beekeepers, helps beekeepers process and sell honey, solves the problems of beekeepers' difficulty in beekeeping and sales through the implementation of standardized production technology of organic honey, and takes the improvement of the degree of organization of beekeepers and the promotion of industrialization of the bee industry as an important measure to play the role of the base. He said that the county beekeeping research institute and the general party branch of the county beekeeping association implemented the "bee flavor" party building, carried out the "beekeeping school", and regularly carried out the party's theoretical, beneficial agricultural programs, and practical technical programs in the electric classroom or bee farm of the beekeeper service center every week; used the county's "Huimin Lecturer Group", "Propaganda Frontline Line", "Rural Party School" and provincial and municipal experts' first-line counseling to send them to the grass-roots level; through WeChat groups, QQ groups and mobile phone text messages, etc., to link beekeeper party members, launch "air classrooms", and innovate and implement "party building to lead air agriculture." Help build the "Sweet Dragon Gate" project, truly create the "Bee Love" Dragon Gate, and brew the "Sweet" cause.
In addition, the party branch of the Longmen County Beekeeping Association often organizes beekeeping experts from the lecturer group to provide beekeepers with various guidance services such as bee disease and pest control and honey quality preservation through the distance education platform - Huimin Lecturer Group, and regularly organizes party members and beekeepers to visit and study at the red education base, so that all party members and beekeepers have a deeper understanding of the revolutionary history of Longmen County, and guide party members and beekeepers to practice the mass line with a fuller mental state and pragmatic work style in their future work. In order to build a new socialist countryside, we should do our own work in a down-to-earth manner.

Lin Weizhong said that the leadership of party building has not only improved the production technology level of bee farmers in Longmen County, but also enriched a group of people, and the beneficiary households have become disseminators, creating a group of leaders in getting rich.
