Bao Zhangyan, who lives in Qingjian County, Shaanxi Province, is an AI (artificial intelligence) trainer, and her daily job is to mark pictures in front of the computer, and the content of the annotations is various, such as judging what object is on the picture, whether the semantic meaning of the two sentences is consistent, and the separation of processes and materials in the clothing standard. What Bao Zhangyan has to do is to label the electronic tag on the picture, so as to train the AI to become smarter.
The "Garbage Sorting Guide" mini program on Alipay is also the result of Bao Zhangyan and her colleagues. Every day, they have to put electronic tags such as glass, plastic, paper bags, and seasoning jars on pictures in front of the computer. If "Unknown Object" is labeled, there is no label in the system that fits the object and needs to be entered manually. Before AI could autonomously identify different kinds of garbage, Bao and her partners had to mark the computer more than a thousand times a day on average. Now, tens of millions of users across the country are using photos and voices to sort garbage, which is the result of the day-to-day tuning and training of AI trainers.
Bao Zhangyan has two daughters, and the two girls are clean and tidy like Bao Zhangyan. Bao Zhangyan's husband, a truck driver, died a decade ago after accidentally falling down a hillside, leaving only two young daughters and a helpless wife. The eldest daughter is 13 years old, somewhat rebellious, does not love to study, in order to take care of her daughter, Bao Zhangyan quit her job as a clothing store manager in a foreign country. The reunion is a reunion, but the family's livelihood becomes a problem - Qingjian County is not much, it is not prosperous, and there are no employment opportunities.
In November 2019, people from the same village told her that the county company was recruiting people, and the work was related to Alipay and computers. This made Bao Zhangyan, who was only a newcomer to the Chinese, almost retreat. Through the computer-based examination and induction training, Bao Zhangyan became the first member of the "AI Bean Project" Qingjian Project.
"AI Bean" harmonic English "Idol" (idol), relying on Alipay's ability and advantages in the artificial intelligence industry, released a large number of employment opportunities in the artificial intelligence industry, free training of "AI trainers" in poor areas, to help poor women expand employment channels, so as to become "their own idols" by their own efforts. In November 2019, Alipay Charity Foundation piloted this innovative poverty alleviation model of "AI+ poverty alleviation" in Qingjian. Previously, the "AI Bean Plan" has been testing the cattle knife in Tongren Wanshan District, Guizhou, and has trained nearly 200 trainees for the local area, which has led to stable local employment, of which the proportion of women has reached 50%.
In the first month, Bao Zhangyan earned 3,000 yuan, solved the family's livelihood problems, and also settled Bao Zhangyan, who went out to work at the age of 16 and was still empty-handed for many years. Now, after work, she has time to accompany her daughter, buy vegetables, cook, check homework, listen to her heart, and all the things she lacked in her childhood can now be compensated to her daughters.
