On the afternoon of April 11, the Wuhan Theater officially announced that Liu Dehai, a famous pipa player and a grandmaster of a generation, died in Beijing at 14:25 on the 11th, at the age of 82.

Born in Shanghai, Liu Dehai has been learning a variety of ethnic instruments such as pipa since childhood. At the age of 20, he entered the Central Conservatory of Music for further study, he was not bound to traditional folk music, and improved folk music while also receiving a systematic Western music education.
After graduating from university, Liu Dehai stayed in school to engage in pipa teaching. At the age of 33, he officially became a pipa player of the Central Orchestra, and since then, Liu Dehai has adapted many songs and combined them with pipa. He also actively explored new fingerings of the lute, injecting new life into this traditional instrument.
In 1973, Liu Dehai, Wu Zuqiang and Wang Yanqiao collaborated to create the pipa concerto "Little Sisters of the Grassland", which was the first large-scale pipa concerto, and then cooperated with well-known foreign orchestras for many times, so that the pipa went out of the country.
However, Liu Dehai's most famous work is "Ten Faces Ambush".
"Ten Faces Ambush" was originally a classic piece of pipa performance, but Liu Dehai believed that the first version was not enough to express the tension and excitement of the battle under the xia, so he made a drastic adaptation on the basis of the original song, so that the song was completely renewed, and after playing it, it was a great success, and even went out of the country, and "Ten Faces Ambush" could be heard all over the world.
Liu Dehai also wrote a lot of teaching materials, and the green skin's "Daily Must Play Pipa Etudes" has benefited generations of students who have learned pipa.
Even if I didn't learn pipa, I had practiced the music written by Teacher Liu Dehai.
Some netizens said that they were still playing Liu Dehai's classic work "Little Sisters of the Prairie", and they did not expect the old man to go so suddenly.
Mr. Liu Dehai also held a teacher-student concert when he was 80 years old, and he played well on stage, but he did not expect to die suddenly.
May the old gentleman go all the way.
