Since October, the price of vegetables has risen significantly, especially the price of leafy vegetables. In addition to green vegetables, the price of radish has also increased compared with previous years. In the past, turnips were forty or fifty cents a pound, but now two or three pieces a pound. Many farmers also said that such prices are rare.

We have always enjoyed low vegetable prices, and when the prices are high, some people think that vegetable farmers should be able to make a lot of money this year. But in fact, vegetable farmers pay more hard work when planting. Especially because of the extreme weather caused by the reduction of production, many vegetable farmers also have difficulty making money.
Farmer Master Wu grows radish and cabbage all year round, although the price of radish on the market is high, but Master Wu said that this year's radish production is much lower, some people say that one acre of land earns four or five thousand, which is a bit unrealistic for me. The quality of the radish planted this year is not very good, there are many branches, and after picking and picking, the yield is less.
I asked Master Wu, what is the cause of poor quality of radish? Master Wu said: "The rain is the main reason, which cannot be avoided. Secondly, there are also problems with field management. The soil in my land is sticky, the rainwater cannot be discharged, and the humidity is high, which blocks the growth of the main root. And the old seeds used this year, about five years old, have degraded the resistance of all aspects of the seeds. In previous years, turnips also had fork roots, but not so much. This year is either raining or rainy, and I want to give up management in the middle. ”
Extreme weather has a greater impact on the growth of radish, rainy weather, less photosynthesis in leaf production, and small growth of fleshy roots. When the soil moisture is high, it is not conducive to the growth of the main root, so there is a fork root, or a cracked root. How can we reduce this problem during the planting process?
1, bad weather, vegetable growth more or less will be affected, this is inevitable, can only be applied from the planting side. For example, ridge planting improves the looseness of the soil and prevents flooding. After the rain, drain the accumulated water in the ditch in time, and properly shallow plough without hurting the roots.
2, radish in the sowing, try to choose new seeds, do not use old seeds. In particular, seeds that are more than 3 years old, and then sown, the disease resistance and insect resistance of radish are reduced, and the fork root is increased, which is not conducive to high yield. At the same time, grasp the sowing time, sowing too early, easy to hollow.
The increase in rain has led to a decrease in the yield and quality of radish in some planting areas, and it has also caused inconvenience to transportation, causing prices to rise in the market. As a farmer, in the face of price fluctuations, I have less confidence in my heart, and although there is an increase, it is not easy to grow high-yield and high-quality vegetables. Just like radishes, when the field management is not timely, fork roots will appear, and the selling price is high, but it is difficult to make money if you can't grow good quality radishes.
