Recently, China Eastern Airlines (hereinafter referred to as "China Eastern Airlines") Hainan Branch was inaugurated, marking the official opening of a new chapter in the construction of a free trade port with Chinese characteristics as the main force of civil aviation.

At the unveiling ceremony, China Eastern Airlines further implemented the Strategic Cooperation Framework Agreement signed with the Hainan Provincial Government on June 13, 2020, signed a deepening strategic cooperation agreement with the Sanya Municipal People's Government, and signed an enterprise admission agreement with the Sanya Yazhou Bay Science and Technology City Management Bureau.

"According to the agreement, the newly established Donghang South Branch will be headquartered in Sanya and stationed in Yazhouwan Science and Technology City, working with all relevant parties in Hainan to aim at a high-level start and high-quality development, and strive to become the main base airline of Hainan, and build an 'Air Silk Road' connecting the world for the Hainan Free Trade Port." The reporter learned that China Eastern Airlines is one of the earliest airlines to enter Hainan, in 1998 set up the East Navigation Mouth Business Department, in 2011 and the Establishment of Sanya Business Department, at present, China Eastern Airlines operates a modern fleet of 750 passenger and cargo aircraft, and the passenger traffic in 2019 is 131 million passengers.

According to the plan, China Eastern Airlines plans to launch about 50 aircraft in Hainan as a whole, comprehensively expand the route network from Hainan to the whole country and the world, and serve to build a new development pattern with the domestic cycle as the main body and the domestic and international dual cycles promoting each other.

In Wang Mingyuan's view, in recent years, Air China, together with its subsidiaries, has continuously increased its transportation capacity investment in the Changchun market, and Changchun has become an important node in the development of Air China in the northeast region. The opening of this route is an important measure for Air China to promote the high-quality development of the Jilin aviation market, which will build a convenient air bridge between Jilin and Germany, promote the high-level opening up of Jilin to the outside world, and better play the important role of the "Belt and Road" window.

Xu Hong holds the same opinion: "Jilin Province is located in the center of the northeast region, with a number of industries related to the lifeline of the national economy, such as automobile industry, grain agriculture, energy and chemical industry, as well as rich tourism resources, and its provincial capital Changchun is a famous 'automobile city' and 'film city', and an important window for the country's 'Belt and Road' to open to the north." Xu Hong pointed out that the opening of the Changchun-Frankfurt direct flight route not only conforms to market demand, but also builds an air bridge for exchanges and cooperation between northeast China and Europe.

Wang Mingyuan said that in the future, Air China will give full play to the important supporting role of the civil aviation industry in the "double cycle" pattern, and build a more efficient and smooth air passage for China's opening up to the outside world and international exchanges. At the same time, relying on the main business of air transport, we will continue to support the construction of Changchun regional hub, continuously consolidate the strategic layout in the northeast region, promote local economic development, and contribute to the comprehensive revitalization of the northeast to achieve new breakthroughs.
