Sima Qian, born around 145 BC (the fifth year of the reign of Emperor Jing of Han).

When he was six or seven years old, his father Sima Tan served as Taishi Ling, and he followed his father to Beijing (Chang'an) and began to study in Maoling (in the northeast of present-day Xingping County, Shaanxi Province).

By the age of ten, Sima Qian was able to recite ancient books, and later followed the famous scribes Dong Zhongshu and Kong Anguo to study the "Spring and Autumn Ram Biography" and the "Ancient Literature and Shangshu", deeply understood the academic ideas of the hundred families of the pre-Qin and Han Dynasties and the history of their struggles, and he also had a fairly broad knowledge of astronomical calendars.

At the age of twenty, he began to make long-distance trips to various parts of his homeland. He said: "Traveling south to the river and Huai, Shanghui Ji, exploring Yu Cave, peeping into the Nine Doubts, floating in Yuan, Xiang; North Of Wen, Si, The Capital of Qi and Lu, Guan Confucius's Legacy, Zou and Yi; Doom is trapped in Po, Xue, and Pengcheng, and over Liang and Chu."

After this long trip, he extensively investigated social life, learned about folk customs and customs, explored the relics of many historical legends, and collected many anecdotes of historical figures.

Then, he served as the attendant officer of Emperor Wu of Han——— Langzhong and began his career as an official. At the age of thirty-five, he once "sent an envoy to the west to conquer Ba, south of Shu, and south of Qiong, Zheng, and Kunming", and participated in the struggle to pacify the southwest Yi, and was able to understand the situation and customs of the ethnic minorities in the southwest region, and further expanded his knowledge.

Judging from the whereabouts reported by himself in many of the "Commentaries" in the "Records of History", except for the areas of present-day Fujian and Guangdong, he has visited almost all the provinces south of the Great Wall; Especially in the lower reaches of Jianghuai, he passed through more times. Therefore, he had a deep understanding and profound understanding of the social state of the various regions at that time.

After three years, Sima Qian succeeded Taishi Ling and began to collect historical materials and prepare to write the "History of History", when he was thirty-eight years old. On the one hand, he arranged and revised the ancient books kept by the National Library; On the other hand, it is good to visit and make friends, or to conduct on-the-spot investigations to revise or supplement historical materials. After such accumulation and processing, by 104 BC (the first year of Liu Che's first year), when he was forty-two years old, after presiding over the formulation of the "Taichu Calendar", he began to formally begin to write the "History" that had never been seen before.

When Sima Qian was forty-eight years old, he angered Emperor Wu of Han for defending Li Ling, who had surrendered to the Xiongnu, believing that he intended to slander Li Guangli and exonerate Li Ling, so he imprisoned him and sentenced him to palace punishment. This inflicted immense trauma on him mentally. However, it further inspired his determination and perseverance to work hard and complete the huge production of "History", prompting him to write unremittingly in prison. By 96 BC (the first year of the reign of Emperor Liu Che of the Han Dynasty), he was pardoned from prison and appointed him Zhongshu Ling.

Zhongshu Ling was the emperor's close secretary, and his status was higher than that of Taishi Ling, but at that time, most of them used eunuchs to fill the post, for this reason, Sima Qian felt insulted, so he always hurt himself, thinking that "as a minister of the boudoir", he was very angry. However, in order to complete the work and turn his ideas into reality, he had to "live in seclusion", "so he went from the vulgar to the floating and sinking, and leaned in with the times", and insisted on writing for five or six years.

The book was not completed until 91 BC (the second year of Liu Chezheng and the second year), when he was fifty-five years old, and in the winter of that year, he wrote the Book of Baoren'an.

The Book of Baoren An is sima qian's incessant aftersound, and it is also a triumphant song of Zhu Jie in the "Records of History". Since then, there is no record of his activities in the annals.
