On September 17th, as one of the important incubation achievements of the "1+1 Young Directors Drama Manufacturing Program" jointly initiated by Damai Mailive, Gulou West Theater and New Times Group, the drama "Mixed, Folding Or Salad" opened its premiere in Beijing, and achieved a good score of 9.1 in Douban and 8.9 in Barley. Written and directed by Zhang Hui, a doctor of the Directing Department of the Central Academy of Drama, the play is a mixture of several themes and different forms of passages, and is a stage experiment showing "trapped" in the post-epidemic era. The storyline and script of the play are vivid and delicate, and the three paragraphs contain the thoughts of each different individual on life.
The original public welfare stage play "Adventures in the Cloud Country", based on Alibaba Zoo, will meet the audience in November this year.
In terms of Damai Mailive's production, the Chinese version of the musical "Romeo and Juliet" produced by Jiuwei Culture will be unveiled in November, and Chinese the original musical "Human Disqualification" produced by Dye Space and "I Am Not Pan Jinlian" produced by Gulou West Theater will meet the audience in December. The ambient resident musical "Apollonia", which is produced by a good drama and is full of scenes in Shanghai, is also about to land in Chengdu, Changsha and other cities.
In terms of co-production, the first musical "The Pretender", co-produced by "Of Course There Is Drama" and Shanghai Cultural and Broadcasting Arts Group SMG Live, has completed the first round of 10 performances in Shanghai. The work is adapted from the spy war mystery novel "Spy War on the Beach" written by writer Daniel Zhang. In 2015, the TV series "The Pretender", adapted from the novel, received rave reviews when it was launched, becoming a popular word-of-mouth masterpiece. Six years later, "The Pretender" returned in the form of a musical, inviting the original author Daniel Zhang to personally adapt it, with Jin Dong, the actor of the TV drama version of "Ming Lou", as the producer, and assembling a strong team of Chinese and foreign elites.
"The Pretender" relies on the classic film and television IP and takes the original strength as the core, which is not only a retelling of the Chinese story, but also an innovative expression of the red theme in the field of musical theater. As the co-producer and producer of the play, "Of course there is a play" participated in the script creation process, and gave feedback from the perspective of platform and market data at different stages of the script, and in the performance operation stage, it also fully relied on Damai's platform capabilities and Ali's ecological resources to escort the project in content publicity and ticketing operation.
It is reported that the musical version of "The Pretender" is divided into three parts, and the whole story has added more surprises to the plot on the basis of refining the essence of the original work. Among them, the first part, "May I Have This Body to Serve the Country", takes Mingcheng's personal growth as the main line, telling how he grew from an ignorant teenager to a staunch communist fighter. The second part, "Enemies and Friends of the Past", and the third part, "Wind and Cold", will be completed in 2022 and 2023 respectively. The feeling of home and country and the firm belief in patriotism and service to the country will be the core of the series of musicals throughout.
