The South Korean Ministry of National Defense said that the meeting will confirm and evaluate the results of the joint verification of the "disarmament of the Panmunjom Common Garrison Zone" conducted from 26 to 27 last month, and hold consultations on joint duty between the ROK and the DPRK in the other region of the common security zone, adjusting surveillance equipment and sharing information, and free access for tourists to and from the common security zone.

According to the 9/19 Military Agreement, the ROK and the DPRK have closed 5 outposts on the DPRK side and 4 posts on the ROK side in the joint garrison area. In order to allow tourists to freely enter and exit the common security area, the two Koreas need to set up two new posts each and set up surveillance equipment.

The relevant person in charge of the South Korean Ministry of National Defense said that it will strive to allow tourists and citizens to freely enter and exit the common security zone within this year.
