Among the three forces of Liu Bei, Cao Cao, and Sun Quan, the military generals of Sun Quan's forces are probably relatively easy to ignore, and may only know some names and particularly famous events; and among these Jiangdong generals, there is a general with a very high status, but his reputation is very low, and it does not match his status at all, that is, Sun Jiao. Sun Jiao was once one of the most senior generals in the military attaché system of the Jiangdong clique, and his status was probably higher than that of Lü Meng and Jiang Qin. From the surname, it is not difficult to guess that Sun Jiao and Sun Quan have the same clan and clan relationship. Sun Jiao is Sun Jing's third son, and Sun Jing is Sun Jian's younger brother, in other words, Sun Jiao and Sun Quan are cousins and have a relatively close relationship. We see that Cao Cao reused Cao Ren, Xiahou Huan, and Xiahou Yuan; Liu Bei did not have the strength of the clan, so he had to reuse Guan Yu and Zhang Fei, who were the ancestors of Zhuo County, who had been circling around; and it was also easy to understand that Sun Wei used Sun Jiao.
Cheng Pu was a veteran of the Jiangdong clique and a relatively important general, and was appointed as the Taishou of Jiangxia. After the Battle of Chibi, Liu Bei, Sun Quan, and Cao Cao re-divided Jingzhou. Sun Quan controlled the southern part of Jiangxia Commandery, and Cao Cao owned the northern part of Southern County, gaining the benefit of the water. The water flows into the Yangtze River, and its confluence is the Chukou, also known as the Xiakou. Xiakou was an important military town of the Jiangdong clique on the Yangtze River defense line, and Jiangxia County itself also straddled between Jingzhou and Yangzhou, guarding the throat of the Yangtze River. Later, Sun Quan's Wuling Taishou Huang Gai fell ill and died; Sun Jiao's second brother Danyang Taishou Sun Yu (Sun Jiao's eldest brother Sun Yu had tried to launch a mutiny against Sun Quan, so records are very rare), and Sun Quan handed over Huang Gai and Sun Yu's troops to Sun Jiao to strengthen Sun Jiao's military strength. The most emblematic of Sun Jiao's status in the Jiangdong Clique is the official position of "DuHu". We look at the capital protection of the late Eastern Wu dynasty - Ding Feng, Shi Ji, Lu Kang, Ding Feng and Lu Kang are more famous, Shi Ji is also an important general in the late Eastern Wu period, grandfather Zhu Zhi, father Zhu Ran have a very high merit and prestige for the Sun clan. Lü Meng actually did not need to be introduced, participated in many important battles, such as the "Battle of Chibi" and "The Battle of Nan County", helped Sun Quan to capture Lujiang, attacked the three counties of Jingnan, and the military resume can be said to be quite rich; Jiang Qin is also a General of Jiangdong who has always been easy to be ignored, in fact, he is of the same status as Lü Meng, and his successor is the famous Lu Xun. Sun Jiao's status is even higher than that of Lü Meng and Jiang Qin, and it can be said that he stands at the top of the pyramid of the military attaché system of the Jiangdong Clique and also holds the military power of the important town of Jiangxia.

Sun Jiao is similar to Jiang Qin, although his status is very high, but his personal biography is relatively short, his military experience is relatively thin, and his contributions and achievements are believed to be incomparable with Lü Meng and Lu Xun. Sun Jiao's military scriptures can be divided into three aspects--sticking to the whiskers, opposing Guan Yu, and attacking Jingzhou, but unfortunately none of the three aspects has a unique position.
Stick to the whiskers
Since the Battle of Chibi, the war between Cao Cao and Sun Quan has mainly revolved around the Huainan region. During Sun Quan's Northern Expedition, he was fighting Hefei, but he could not fight it down, and he failed to be humiliated, earning the nickname of "Sun Shiwan"; and the main goal of Cao Cao's southern expedition was Shuishu Shui, which could not be defeated, but the retreat looked much better than Sun Quan, and even once obtained The nominal submission of Sun Quan.
From the seventeenth year of Jian'an to the twenty-second year of Jian'an (that is, from 212 to 217 AD), Cao Cao launched three "Battles of Fusu", none of which were small, and the second "Battle of Fusu" was known as 400,000 troops. Sun Jiao had participated in the "Battle of Wushu" against Cao Cao, and more than once. However, his performance in the "Battle of the Beards" is not specific, and in the "Romance of the Three Kingdoms, Wushu Sun Jiao's Biography", he only mentions it as "Every time Kyauk refuses, the number is elite".
Fight against Guan Yu
Although Liu Bei and Sun Quan superficially maintained an alliance relationship, they were actually very difficult to deal with the issue of Jingzhou's ownership. As far as the public is concerned, Jingzhou is upstream of Yangzhou and is too much of a threat to Sun Quan, so it needs to be held in his hand; in private, Jiangling was lent to Liu Bei by Sun Quan, so he gave Liu Bei a springboard to enter the river. After Liu Bei took Xichuan, Sun Quan thought in his heart how it was not a taste. He wanted liu bei to ask for the three counties of Lingling, Guiyang, and Changsha to find a balance for himself. As a result, this condition is not met. So the Sun and Liu families met for the first time against Jingzhou.
During this conflict, Sun Quan, Lu Su, and others firmly restrained Guan Yu; Lü Meng led an army to conquer Changsha and Guiyang Counties, and used tactics to lure Lingling Taishou Haopu to surrender. Later, Liu Bei left Chuan as Guan Yu's back town, and Guan Yu was finally able to escape and confront Lu Su, Sun Jiao, Pan Zhang, Lü Meng, and others in Yiyang. However, in the end, no war broke out between the two, and under the pressure of Cao Cao, Sun Quan and Liu Bei drew an alliance with Xiangshui, and the family was half, temporarily solving the problem of Jingzhou's ownership.
Raid Jingzhou
Although there was the "Xiangshui Alliance", the Jiangdong Clique's desire for Jingzhou was not completely eliminated. In the twenty-fourth year of Jian'an (that is, in 219 AD), Guan Yu led an army to northern Expedition to Xiang and Fan, and Sun Quan saw this as a very good opportunity, so he decided to use troops against Jingzhou, which Guan Yu controlled. Sun Quan originally meant that Sun Jiao and Lü Meng were each the left and right governors, similar to the relationship between Zhou Yu and Cheng Pu in the "Battle of Chibi". However, after lü meng's persuasion, Sun Quan finally took Lü Meng as the main general and Sun Jiao as the rear town. Sun Jiao's performance in the "Battle of Jingzhou" is still unclear, and "Ding jingzhou, Kyauk is powerful" has been brushed over.

Unlike Sun Jiao's military experience, his character image is still relatively plump. First of all, Sun Jiao was good at raising soldiers, reusing Liu Jing, Li Yun, Wu Shuo, Zhang Liang and other people, who all became the team of the follow-up Jiangxia Taishou, Wu Shuo and Zhang Liang participated in the "Battle of Shiyang" and made some achievements, and Zhang Liang even proposed a higher-level strategic plan for the defense of Wuchang after the eastern Wu moved the capital to be established, which was appreciated and adopted by Sun Quan.
Secondly, Sun Jiao was not a pure iron-blooded faction when fighting against Cao Cao's clique, and was good at attacking the heart. Sun Jiao sent an army to capture the people, beautiful women, and officials in the border areas of Cao Cao's clique, and they were all sent back by Sun Jiao. Sun Jiao also deliberately issued a military order: "From now on, we must not attack their old and weak." This method won the hearts and minds of the people in the areas under the jurisdiction of Cao Cao's clique, so more people depended on Sun Jiao.
Finally, there are some small festivals between Sun Jiao and Gan Ning. Sun Jiao and Gan Ning had a conflict during a drink, Gan Ning was a thorn in the head and no one obeyed, Sun Jiao was both a relative of Sun Quan and a general of Bianzhen, and the two people were probably pinpointed to Mai Mang. Sun Quan heard about this and wrote a letter to Sun Jiao to persuade the two. Sun Jiao immediately wrote a letter to apologize for his sins and fellowship with Gan Ning, which can also be regarded as knowing that mistakes can be corrected. All in all, Sun Jiao knew that people were good at using people, good at attacking the heart, and not using things with arrogance, and his image was still more in line with the more mature and stable military commanders on the Zhenshu side.
