In an interview with Yahoo Entertainment, Captain America series screenwriters Christopher Marcus and Stephen McFinley talked about the anecdotes of the U.S. team series in the early stages of development.
Everyone knows that before the film is developed, there will be corresponding early concept maps, and these concept maps, the creators will make them according to the actors they imagine.
McFinley recalls that a large part of it was a Concept Art of Captain America based on Jack Gyllenhaal.
"They would sketch the uniform, and sometimes they would just pick an actor and have him put on the uniform."
"Maybe it's an expectation of wish fulfillment, but I remember a lot of pictures of Jack Gyllenhaal playing the U.S. team."
Marcus said, "He [Sebastian Stan] brought something of his own to Bucky and then to The Winter Soldier, and that's a dark aura in him. ”
The competition for Captain America's actors was fierce, with people like Scott Eastwood, Chanin Tatum and John Krasinski all under consideration.
But in the end, Marvel still chose Chris Evans, who had repeatedly declined invitations.
And Jack Gyllenhaal eventually came to Marvel as a mystery man.
