Born in Jiading, Jiangsu Province, zhang Junjie was a Confucian physician and businessman family, enlightened at the age of 6, and grew up reading Zhu Xi's "Recent Thoughts", which nourished his gentle and pious disposition and also cultivated his lifelong belief in "dignity and morality". His sister is the famous Zhang Youyi, Xu Zhimo's ex-wife.
