It has been 6 years since the overpass was "missing", and residents detoured to ask why the overpass of Wanshou Temple was demolished? Follow-up question 2 Can this overpass be rebuilt?

There was originally a pedestrian bridge near the West Third Ring Road Wanshou Temple bus station, spanning the Third Ring Road, which could facilitate the movement of people on both sides. However, due to the construction of the Wanshousi subway station, the overpass was demolished. Recently, Mr. Xue, an audience member, called the traffic news hotline 65150808 (WeChat public account "1039 Investigation Team") to reflect that residents on both sides of the West Third Ring Road often need to cross the Third Ring Road to the opposite side to take a ride or run errands, and now there is no overpass, which is very inconvenient. Now that the Wanshousi subway station has been completed and put into use, can the overpass that was demolished be rebuilt?

The Wanshou temple bus station has platforms on the main road and auxiliary road of the West Third Ring Road, and passengers can use the zebra crossing and traffic lights on the auxiliary road to travel to and from the platform between the main and auxiliary roads. However, about 500 meters away from the north and south sides of the bus platform, there is a crossover overpass across the main road of the third ring road, and passengers often need to go south or north to make a large circle if they need to go to the opposite side of the third ring road after getting off the bus.

Nearby residents said that before 2015, there was originally a cross-street overpass near the Wanshousi bus station, through which passengers crossed the main road of the third ring road very conveniently. The steel trusses of road signs and monitoring probes hanging 50 meters south of the Wanshou temple bus station are the location of the former overpass.

At the end of last year, metro line 16 Wanshou temple station put into operation, surrounding residents found that borrowing the subway entrance and exit passage can also cross the main road of the third ring, but if you go from the station of the main road to the main road station on the other side, you must first cross an auxiliary road, enter the subway through, and then cross a secondary road after leaving the subway, which is more troublesome, waiting for the signal lights, entering and exiting the subway it takes at least 5 minutes. In order to walk less, some elderly people prefer to take one more bus stop, cross the road and then take the bus back.

On the west side of the Third Ring Road near Wanshou Temple, there are some food shops, convenience stores, etc., and on the east side are the Bayi Theater and the Chinese Theater. Surrounding residents said they were often reluctant to go shopping on the other side of the Third Ring Road. During the peak hours of the day, few people cross the road, and auxiliary vehicles still need to wait for signal lights, which is also prone to congestion. At night, the subway station entrance is closed, and passengers who take the night 30 home can only detour around the overpass on both sides.

Beijing Urban Express Rail Construction Management Co., Ltd. said that the main structure of Wanshousi Station of Metro Line 16 conflicts with the position of the main girder pile foundation of the overpass, and the two entrance structures of the subway station C and D conflict with the location of the overpass ladder. With the approval of the Municipal Transportation Commission, the flyover was demolished on February 15, 2015.

Beijing City Rapid Rail Construction Management Co., Ltd. said that at the end of last year, the Wanshousi subway station was put into operation, because the original location of the overpass was occupied by the subway entrance and exit, and there was no condition for in-situ reconstruction. According to the rehabilitation plan, the overpass needs to be moved about 30 meters north. After on-site investigation and program research, there are many pipelines such as heat, electricity, rainwater, gas, and tap water under the reconstruction site of the overpass, and the construction of the overpass also involves the coordination and adjustment of facilities such as bus station relocation, road channelization, and garden land, which is difficult to implement. At present, the fast rail company is actively communicating with the Beijing Municipal Transportation Commission and relevant pipeline property rights units, coordinating and studying the pipeline relocation protection plan, and accelerating the restoration of the overpass.

Some citizens frankly said that from the demolition of the overpass in early 2015 to the use of the Wanshousi subway station at the end of last year, they could only go around and cross the Third Ring Road in six years, which was indeed very inconvenient. However, after all, the overpass was demolished for the purpose of building a subway station, which is understandable. However, after the subway station is completed and put into use, the overpass that was originally demolished should also be rebuilt as soon as possible to provide convenient crossing facilities for surrounding residents. It is hoped that the relevant departments will study the pipeline relocation plan as soon as possible and rebuild the overpass so that the surrounding residents will no longer have to worry about crossing the Third Ring Road.
