Yao Dunlie, a 58-year-old villager in Chaoyang Village, Xindian Town, Yuping Dong Autonomous County, began to learn the skills of making Dongjia canned oil tea in 1980, and moved Dongjia canned oil tea out of the mountains, which was favored by consumers.
The production of Dongjia cans of oil tea is very exquisite, mainly including native chicken, ash alkali, tea oil, sticky rice, old tea, glutinous rice, soybeans, peanut rice and other raw materials. The production process is to first use the native chicken to boil the soup, and then fry the glutinous rice, peanut rice, soybeans, etc., and finally the old tea leaves are fried to make a fragrance, pour into the local chicken soup, scoop it into the clay sand jar and simmer it together with the ash alkali, and the Dong family can can oil tea is completed.
In 1980, Yao Dunlie followed his grandmother to learn to make Dongjia canned oil tea, at the beginning, due to the inaccurate grasp of the production process, the taste of the Dongjia canned oil tea produced was not as good as that of the older generation, so he often went to the village to find the older generation to learn, and quickly mastered the production technology.
Since mastering the dong family's cans of oil tea production technology, the village has held a red and white celebration, and Yao Dunlie has become the village's chef and is deeply liked by the villagers. In order to inherit the dongjia canned oil tea making skills, since 2008, Yao Dunlie has trained more than 20 apprentices who make Dongjia canned oil tea in the local area.
In September 2020, in order to develop the tourism industry, the local government built a characteristic cultural street "not scattered in the Yuping Dongxiang Ethnic Customs Park Scenic Area", Yao Dunlie moved the Dongjia canned oil tea from the depths of the mountains into the tourist scenic spot, and made Dongjia canned oil tea for tourists to taste on the spot, which was favored by tourists.
"Good things are the most beautiful to share, and I want guests to come to Yuping to taste the delicious taste of our Dong family's cans of oil tea!" Yao Dunlie said.
According to the Yuping Dong Autonomous County Culture and Tourism Bureau, in 2009, the Dongjia canned oil tea making technology was included in the third batch of provincial intangible cultural heritage list in Guizhou Province.
