Engaged in haiku writing.

In 1900, he studied at the University of London for two years, and in 1904, a kitten came to the house, and he began to write "I Am a Cat", at the age of 37. From 1906 onwards, Thursday gatherings, literary salons, were organized in their own homes.

He died of diabetes in 1916, and in 1984 his portrait was printed on a Japanese thousand-dollar bill.

He said that if you don't describe troubles, you can't call it literature. World-weariness, annoyance, and anger are common words in Natsume's works, and when he writes novels, he is good at using pairs, overlapping sentences, humorous language, and novel forms.

His precise and subtle grasp and description of personal psychology created a precedent for the private novel atmosphere in later generations, and Lu Xun gave high praise to his works.

Japan designates February 22 as the Cat Festival every year because 222 is pronounced in Japanese as a cat's call.

Natsume says that things are as unpredictable as a cat's eyeballs. In "Traveling", it is written: "The poems I love are not things that preach worldly feelings, but poems that abandon worldly ideas and temporarily detach the mind from the world." ”
