Yang Mo and Yu Yongze's prototype Zhang Zhongxing (II)
——Excerpted from "Literature and History Spring and Autumn", No. 2, 2008
Yang Mo was born in Beijing to a well-off family. Her father graduated from the Business Department of Beijing Normal University, founded and served as the president of Beijing Xinhua University, the first private school in China, and soon developed into a large landowner.
After that, he gradually ignored the family's age and indulged in the sound and color of dogs and horses, and then the family's situation gradually declined. Yang Mo's mother was often noisy because she wanted to discipline her husband's debauchery for many years, and had no intention of disciplining her children.

In 1928, Yang Mo had become a 14-year-old girl of a young age. This year, she was admitted to Beijing Xishan Hot Spring Girls' High School, and her family life became more and more difficult and embarrassing. In her third year of junior high school, in order to reduce the burden on her family, Yang Mo's mother planned to marry her eldest daughter Yang Mo to a rich military officer.
Because those novels that strive for the freedom of marriage gave Yang Mo unexpected courage and strength, for this reason, she, who has always been more docile, actually confronted her mother and expressed her resolute refusal to comply. In anger, her mother threatened to ignore the cost of meals and tuition, but Yang Mo did not give in.
During this period, she also read many Chinese and foreign books that pursued the liberation of personality since the "May Fourth", which further nourished her rebellious consciousness of pursuing love freedom.
Yang Mo's struggle with her mother intensified, and in the end, she turned her heart sideways and secretly ran to Beidaihe to find her brother Yang Chengxun, who was teaching there. In order to strive for an independent marriage, he did not hesitate to break with his family and flew away, and Yang Mo regarded him as a hero.
However, Yang Chengxun was also too busy to take care of himself, his strength was limited, and he was unable to help Yang Mo at all. His life was extremely poor, and the two brothers and sisters had a contradiction in time. In pain, Yang Mo wrote to his classmates to help find a job as soon as possible.
Yang Mo, who was looking forward to hearing back, finally waited for a message, and his classmate Li Shaoqiang wrote to say that there was hope for work problems. The sister who used to practice martial arts together was very sympathetic to Yang Mo's situation and asked her cousin to help.
This cousin met Zhang Zhongxing, who had just been admitted to Peking University at that time, and he asked Zhang Zhongxing to help, because Zhang Zhongxing's brother was the principal of Gao Xiao in Xianghe County, Hebei Province.
Zhang Zhongxing also read a lot of progressive books at this time, and when his friends asked him for help, he was full of sympathy and curiosity for the female middle school students who were married, and happily agreed to meet and talk.
To this end, Yang Mo returned to Beijing from Beidaihe to meet and talk with Zhang Zhongxing. The first meeting left a good and deep impression on Zhang Zhongxing.
In Zhang Zhongxing's eyes, Yang Mo is 17 years old, medium in stature, not fat but partial to fullness, bright and energetic eyes; her speech and demeanor are very refreshing, and she is an idealistic, unworldly, and affectionate woman.
At that time, Zhang Zhongxing was reading Chinese at Peking University, knowing books and ceremonies, and full of economics. He chatted with Yang Mo, who was 5 years younger than his literate self, which was naturally much more interesting than the rural wife who had been married for 5 years, was older than himself, and had nothing to say to each other.
The two talked very speculatively, and they had a very good impression of each other, and they had a feeling of seeing each other at first sight, and unconsciously talked about lunchtime. Zhang Zhongxing enthusiastically invited Yang Mo to have lunch with the introducer at the Donglaishun Hotel in Dong'an Market.
Subsequently, Zhang Zhongxing immediately wrote a letter to his brother, who was the principal, asking whether the school was short of people; if so, he said that he knew a suitable candidate. In this way, Yang Mo was introduced to his brother. Soon, I received a reply from my brother, saying that the school was still in need of teachers.
This can make Yang Mo breathe a sigh of relief, and finally he can say goodbye to an unemployed and helpless life and support himself. In early September 1931, Yang Mo was eager to prepare to leave for Xianghe to teach.
Before leaving, Zhang Zhonghang met with Yang Mo twice. In his apartment, there were mountains of books, which opened Yang Mo's eyes and lamented that Zhang Zhongxing was knowledgeable and knowledgeable.
What touched and remembered Yang Mo even more was that when she was desperate and lonely, it was Zhang Zhonghang who stepped forward to help her find a job and solve her livelihood problems.
At the same time, she found that although he was a college student at Peking University, he did not show any shelf of famous college students, but was humble and courteous; although he was very knowledgeable in his belly and exported into chapters, he had considerable respect for women and was never cunning.
As a result, admiration and admiration sprang up in the young girl's heart.
Similarly, in the few contacts and conversations that did not last long, Zhang Zhongxing obviously liked the refreshing and enthusiastic Yang Mo.
When Yang Mo got into the car to leave, the two were reluctant and showed obvious love for each other. After that, the two began to exchange frequent letters, and their feelings quickly warmed up.
After Yang Mo went to Xianghe to teach for more than two months, her seriously ill mother found out her whereabouts, so she entrusted people to persuade her to return to Beijing, and promised to study in the future.
Knowing that his mother was seriously ill, Yang Mo hurried back home. Due to the breakdown of the relationship, the father and brother did not return home, and only Yang Mo and his two young sisters guarded the poor and dying mother.
However, Yang Mo, who had just opened his love sinus, was falling in love with Zhang Zhongxing at this time, fiercely in love, and spent all day in the apartment, you and I loved, inseparable.
Yang Mo, a woman who lacked the warmth of family affection since childhood and longed for caress day and night, is now surrounded by strong love, immersed in sweet pleasure every day, and she tastes a huge happiness that makes her dizzy like never before.
In Yang Mo's mind, Zhang Zhongxing was radiant enough. He treats people seriously and responsibly, has feelings and righteousness, handles things rigorously and generously and measuredly, and is diligent and talented in his studies...
Yang Mo gave him a girl's innocent heart completely, loving him wholeheartedly, loving him completely regardless of anything else. You know, this is Yang Mo's first hot love, and once the fire burns up, it is unstoppable. Soon, Yang Mo became pregnant.
When Yang Mo told Zhang Zhonghang this news, what surprised and disappointed her was that Zhang Zhongxing's face immediately darkened, his eyebrows frowned, and he did not show the joy and excitement that ordinary people are accustomed to.
This made Yang Mo very confused and surprised, and then she was extremely dissatisfied with him, and she suddenly felt as if she had suddenly fallen into an icy trough.
Yang Mo is a hot, delicate and sensitive person, and she believes that after she became pregnant, Zhang Zhongxing was obviously estranged from herself. She was also a good and strong person, and under the negative anger, she no longer went to look for Zhang Zhongxing.
It's also a disaster. At the end of the year, Yang Mo's mother died, and with it, the family was also dispersed. Forced to make a living, the three sisters went their separate ways.
In the summer of 1932, Yang Mo's belly was getting bigger day by day, and she was embarrassed to live at home, so she quietly rented a house near Zhang Zhongxing's residence and waited for the birth.
Zhang Zhongxing often came to see her. However, the feelings of the two people have created some diaphragm, losing the intimacy of the past, only relatively speechless.
In the end, Yang Mo decided to go to her sister Bai Yang's nursing mother's house to give birth to the child. Before leaving, Zhang Zhongxing did not give her a ride.
Yang Mo later wrote in the article: Seeing that I was holding up a big belly, a person on the road, he didn't even mean to send me, such a cruel person!
Yang Mo gave birth to Zhang Zhongxing's son. 12 days after giving birth to the child, Yang Mo returned to Beijing from the countryside in a donkey cart. The son was left in the care of the nursing mother.
