Today I want to tell the story of a patriot, a young man who was abducted to Taiwan, David Wei, who returned to the mainland after going through hardships.
In 1930, David Wei was born in Xiangzhou, Guangxi, and later followed his family to live in Guilin. Because his three uncles in the family are all pilots, he has dreamed since he was a child that he will grow up to be a pilot and fly in the blue sky. Because his two uncles died on the anti-Japanese battlefield, and the remaining one also performed a crash in the air, his mother was very resistant to his dream of flying. David Wei was a filial child, and he could only give up his dream after being admitted to the Air Force Kindergarten School and listening to his mother's words.
In 1945, with the end of the War of Resistance Against Japan, the Kuomintang reactionaries aimed their guns at their own people and launched a civil war, and at this time, Wei David was just 16 years old, studying at the Xiangshan Conservatory of Music in Guilin, because of his radical thinking, he and the enthusiastic young people threw themselves into the student movement. He was outgoing and able to speak, and soon became a leading figure in the student group, and soon attracted the attention of Kuomintang agents, and Wei David fled from Guilin to Guangzhou with several classmates in order to escape arrest.
Wei David arrived in Guangzhou in July 1949, at this time the capital of the Kuomintang nanjing has been liberated by our army, the Kuomintang is now surviving, they also know that the defeat has been decided, there is no power to return to heaven, but still publish military academy recruitment advertisements everywhere, Wei David himself is a patriotic youth, after seeing the advertisement immediately ignited his patriotic heart, when he did not go to the air force as an army, immediately went to sign up, but did not expect that he fell into the pit.
Wei David and his party came to huangpu port in Guangzhou, and under the arrangement of the commander, they boarded a ship called "Huimin Ferry", and Wei David was very excited, not only because he took the steamship for the first time, but also because his enthusiasm for serving the country had a place to play, and he was one step closer to his dream.
The ship slowly drove out of the harbor and sailed to the sea, Wei David and others did not know where the ship was going, watching the landing land get farther and farther away from themselves, the ship also entered a panic, at this time someone asked the sailor next to him: "Where is the ship going?" The sailor replied, "Kaohsiung, Taiwan!" At this time, the people on the ship reacted, and it turned out that this was not to go to the military academy to serve the motherland, but to be arrested by the Kuomintang and go to Taiwan as a zhuangding! Suddenly the ship began to be chaotic, and the young people tried to join forces to resist, but they were suppressed by the Nationalist soldiers with submachine guns. Seeing that the wood has become a boat, Wei David has no way at this time, he can't jump directly, now he can hardly see the land, the jumping ship is definitely bound to die, and he thought of his mother at home, so he dismissed this idea, decided to take a step first, wait for the boat and then think about it in the long run, he must go back!
After the ship arrived in Kaohsiung, Wei David disembarked with the crowd and wanted to take the opportunity to run away, but there were soldiers on both sides, and if there was a slight resistance, he would be killed, and he had no choice but to be escorted by the Kuomintang soldiers to Fengshan to wait for the regroupment. Everyone was tricked into coming to Taiwan, no one wanted to be a soldier for the Kuomintang, and these young people planned to go on a hunger strike to protest, but they still underestimated the means of the Kuomintang authorities. The Kuomintang authorities asked these young people to send 30 deputies out to negotiate, and the young people thought that the Kuomintang had yielded and that they were hopeful of returning home, so they happily elected 30 deputies to negotiate. At once, David Wei saw the current situation clearly, and had to accept the Kuomintang's arrangement first, seek perfection, and wait for the opportunity to escape.
The young people received a month's training in Fengshan, and the Kuomintang, fearing that they would escape, transferred them to Hongmao Harbor on the western coast, which was surrounded by water on three sides, and Wei David stayed here for more than a month, and found that it was impossible to escape back to the mainland from this side, so he wanted to flee to other places and then make other plans.
Not long after, just in time for the festival, the troops were very lively on this day, in order to celebrate the festival also specially prepared a feast, the soldiers were drunk and drunk, at this time the weather was not good, thunderstorms, this is also the most lax defense, Wei David saw the opportunity to sneak into a large sugarcane forest, in order to avoid the pursuit of soldiers, David Wei hid in the sugarcane forest for 7 days. Sleep during the day, run at night, eat sugar cane when thirsty, dig sweet potatoes when hungry. The weather in Taiwan was hot and humid, Wei David's clothes had never dried, and at night there were snakes crawling around at his feet, and Wei David walked little by little in this environment, waiting until he came out of the sugarcane forest and ran all the way to Pingtung. Fortunately, I did not encounter the pursuing soldiers, and if I was caught by the Kuomintang, I would be shot directly.
Wei David knew that even if he escaped the control of the Kuomintang, he would not be able to return to the mainland so easily, and he would have to make other plans, so he first found a job in Pingtung and considered it in the long run. 5 months later, the Naval Noncommissioned Officer School enrolled, and David Wei felt that this was an opportunity to get a ship back to the mainland, so he resolutely enrolled in the Naval School. David Wei was smart at an early age, and his academic performance in school was good, and he successfully passed the exam and became a cadet at the Naval Academy.
After two years of study, David Wei graduated from the Naval Academy and was later assigned to serve on the warship "Yongtai". David Wei began to look for an opportunity to return to the mainland, he had planned to hijack the Yongtai to go back, but he quickly dispelled this idea, because the warship was too big and slow, it was easy to be intercepted, he could not go back alone, and he had to unify the thoughts of the people on board. At the same time, the news of the failure of another warship,"Meihong", to revolt back to the mainland just happened to come, and the "Meihong" was stopped by the Kuomintang no matter how far it ran, and the captain and crew were killed, which also confirmed that his path was not feasible. After the idea of driving back by boat was dispelled, David Wei had the idea of flying back, because there were only two ways to return to the mainland from Taiwan, either by water or by air.
And the air force school at this time is also recruiting, Wei David dreamed of flying an airplane in the sky since he was a child, he resolutely admitted to the air force school, the result did not expect to be really admitted, but the air force school does not mean that the entrance can go, but also must be agreed by the navy to let go. Wei David applied to the Navy several times in order to go to the Air Force School, but the Navy did not agree, so he took a dangerous move and directly broke into the office of the Commander-in-Chief of the Navy, Ma Jizhuang, asked the reason, Ma Jizhuang also admired the brave Wei David, he opened a condition for Wei David, let him serve in the Navy for five years and let him go to the Air Force. Faced with such conditions, David Wei certainly did not agree, if he really waited five years, he would have passed the age of joining the Air Force, let alone flying back to the mainland. So he decisively refused Ma Jizhuang's conditions and said that if the navy did not let him go, he would go on his own. This angered Ma Jizhuang, who told David That if you dared to run, he would arrest you and shoot you. The two people dispersed unhappily, and Wei David could only helplessly return to the "Yongtai".
At that time, Wei David and the captain had a very good relationship, and after he learned Wei David's idea, he was also very supportive, saying that he could carry the pot for him and be punished, Wei David was very touched after hearing it, and prepared his own escape plan. When the "Yongtai" arrived in Matsu, he immediately disembarked and went straight to the air force school office to register, and was also successfully picked up by the air force officer and entered the air force school.
Ma Jizhuang heard the news of Wei David's escape, and immediately ordered that he be arrested and shot, but he had already entered the air force school, and it was not easy to arrest him, and Ma Jizhuang did not intend to give up, he directly sued the Ministry of National Defense, thanks to Wei David's flying talent, and the air force also met a good seedling, so it saved him, and this matter was not resolved.
After half a year of primary flight training, David Wei successfully graduated and was sent to Okayama for advanced flight training, in the process of training, he made some good friends, he told his friends about his idea of returning to the mainland, and won the recognition of his friends. So he began to discuss the plan of the uprising with his friends, and the 12 of them planned to fly back in 12 planes during flight training, and everything was arranged seamlessly. However, contrary to his wishes, one of the friends flew back in a plane the night before the agreed action because he was eager to return home, and although he also successfully flew back to the mainland, it suddenly disrupted David's plan.
After the Kuomintang authorities learned of the news, they immediately issued a grounding order, and then began to investigate all pilots, in the process of investigation, Wei David and others were reported and arrested and imprisoned. The Kuomintang authorities decided to send them all to Fire Island Prison.
The burning island prison is surrounded by water, and it is impossible for anyone who is sent there to run out. David Wei thought that there was no hope of returning home, and he would spend the next life in prison, so he immediately decided to escape from prison. Unexpectedly, things suddenly took a turn for the better, and their superiors actually ordered them to be acquitted and let them return to the air base to make meritorious contributions. Of course not! Rather, one of the arrested pilots was a man named Su Enqi, whose uncle, Zhou Zhirou, was a former commander of Taiwan's air force and a close confidant of Chiang Kai-shek, who retired as chief of staff for national defense. It was precisely because of his appearance that these pilots were rescued.
After being released, David Wei made a different decision than the others, he knew that if he returned to the air base, he would definitely not have the opportunity to touch the plane again, and he was afraid that he would be held responsible again, so he took the opportunity to climb on a train bound for Taipei, ready to find another opportunity.
After arriving in Taipei, David Wei was not familiar with the land, and he had no relatives, no place to turn to, and could only live on odd jobs. However, fortunately, he had studied at the Xiangshan Conservatory of Music before and knew more about music, so he later went to the song hall to sell songs. During this time of singing, he met an American who knew he could fly a plane, introduced him to the flying club as a pilot, and rekindled his hope of returning to the mainland.
However, things often do not go smoothly, and after David Wei arrived at the flying club, he found that the flying club was all small aircraft, the mileage was insufficient, and they could not fly to the Taiwan Strait at all, let alone fly to the mainland.
David Wei has experienced so many failures, has he given up this time? Of course not, as the saying goes: "If you want to do a good job, you must first use your weapon." In the absence of a suitable aircraft, David Wei decided to first survey the terrain, study the route, and wait for the right opportunity, so he often drove the plane around and explored the nearby terrain and the Radar Air Defense Facilities of the Kuomintang.
The kung fu paid off, and the suitable plane also allowed Wei David to find it, and it turned out that there was a special plane in the flying club, which was the most advanced "Cessna" aircraft in the United States, which was previously used by the military and has now become a tourist plane for Chiang Kai-shek's son Jiang Weiguo. However, it is not easy to drive away this plane, this plane has a special identity, there are special pilots, guards and hangars, outsiders can not get close at all, and every time this plane lands, it is difficult to remove some important parts from the staff, even the fuel tank must be empty, and it is almost difficult to drive away under these premises.
But hope is in sight, how can we say give up and give up? David Wei began to think of a solution. Whenever the plane was out of mission, David Wei hid to the side and observed with a telescope, kept in mind the situation of the plane, and often chatted with the pilot of the plane, took the opportunity to get the key to the plane, and secretly assigned a key.
Wei David also often invited several guards of this plane to eat and drink, and when they came and went, everyone gradually became acquainted, especially one of the short guards, who was even more brother and brother to Wei David.
Through this period of preparation, David Wei thought that the time was ripe, and consulted with two other partners who also wanted to return to the mainland, and set the time of the uprising to the morning of January 7, 1956, that is, the time when the short guards were on duty.
On January 6, when the sun set, David Wei saw the short guard on duty, so he went up to greet him in advance: "Tomorrow morning this plane will carry out a secret mission, let me test the plane in the morning, you prepare in advance." The guards knew that David Wei did not have the right to fly the plane, but when he saw the plane keys in his hand, he did not ask much, so he put all the parts unloaded on the plane back and filled up the oil.
Early the next morning, after the short guard went to work, David Wei came to the hangar and said that he wanted to test the plane, because he had already said hello yesterday, the guard did not ask much, he opened the hangar, helped David Wei to push the plane out of the hangar, Wei David sat in, with his own key to ignite, test the status of the aircraft. After finding that the plane was fine, he turned off the fire and dragged the guard back to the duty room to drink tea. Two other fellow rebels took the opportunity to infiltrate the cabin and wait for David To take off.
David Wei quickly slipped into the plane while the guards were going to the toilet and prepared to take off. However, the first time there was no fire, the three people rushed out of a sweat, fortunately, it was a false alarm, David Wei lit the fire again, and the plane was successfully launched.
However, the sound of the plane's engine alarmed the guards, he hurried out of the duty room to check the situation, found that the plane was running faster and faster on the runway, he immediately pulled out his gun to shoot at the plane, but it was too late, the plane had left the ground and flew into the air.
At this time, the tower also found that the plane took off without itinerary arrangements, and hurriedly shouted with radio: "Who is flying the plane, hurry up and land!" ”
Wei David waited for 7 years, waiting for this moment, how could he possibly listen to them, he replied: "I am Wei David, tell old Jiang, Lao Tzu is gone, back to his hometown on the mainland!"
Chiang Kai-shek
The airport panicked instantly, reported to the superiors, and also invited a female agent to try to lure Wei David back by radio: "Brother David, turn back to the shore, the leaders know that you have suffered all these years, come back, the superiors will compensate you well, everything is good to discuss." David Wei replied, "You have deceived Lao Tzu for seven years, do you know how Lao Tzu lived in these seven years?" No one should try to stop me from coming home! "After saying that, I turned off the radio.
The Kuomintang saw that David Wei was determined not to turn back, so it sent 4 F86 fighters to intercept him and try to shoot him down. After all, David Wei had been an Air Force pilot before, and he knew that the weakness of the F86 was that it could not fly at low altitude, so he lowered the altitude of the aircraft to fly at low altitude. The fighter pilots lost their target and planned to intercept them at the Fuzhou border, because the pilots of the previous uprising had chosen to land in Fuzhou, so they stopped searching for David Wei and their planes and flew straight to the direction of Fuzhou.
As soon as Wei Dawei got rid of the fighter plane and flew to the sea, he saw the US Seventh Fleet exercising live ammunition on the sea surface, and it was impossible to fly over the head of the fleet with artillery fire, so in desperation, he turned around and made a big turn and bypassed the exercise area.
David Wei originally planned to land in Fuzhou, but he thought that he might be intercepted by fighters and could not be contacted by radio, so he turned a corner and flew to Quanzhou. Since the Kuomintang often sent warplanes to harass the mainland at that time, our army thought that David Wei had also come to harass them, so it directly opened fire on them.
Fei
In order to show his intentions to the ground, David Wei swung his wings heavily in the fire. Fortunately, Ye Fei, the commander of the Fujian Military Region at the time, discovered the strange way the plane flew, judged that the plane was not here to harass, but more like an uprising aircraft, and immediately ordered: If it has been flying toward the mainland, it will stop shooting, and if it turns around, it will directly shoot down.
In this way, David Wei drove the "Cessna" with two companions and passed by death, returning to the motherland and returning to the arms of his family.
David Wei, who returned home from the uprising, was highly valued by the party and the state, and was also received by various leaders one after another. He was often invited to give lectures in various government agencies and units, and his experience of venturing home quickly spread in China and became a hero in the hearts of countless people.
After that, David Wei entered the work of the CppcC and was elected by the Central Committee of the Kuomintang Revolutionary Committee as the deputy director of the "Committee for promoting the Peaceful Reunification of the Motherland" and devoted himself to the work of cross-strait reunification. In 1987, the year after Taiwan opened up the people to visit relatives on the mainland, Jiang Weiguo's secretary found Wei Wei, because Wei David had previously taken away Jiang Weiguo's special plane, which affected him, so Wei Wei still had some guilt in his heart for Jiang Weiguo. However, through Jiang Weiguo's secretary Wei David, he knew that Jiang Weiguo did not hate him and admired him very much. The two became friends by chance, but Wei David did not see Jiang Weiguo in the end, because he was rejected twice to go to Taiwan, which also became Wei David's eternal regret.
David Wei's deeds also tell us that every Chinese son and daughter on both sides of the taiwan strait is looking forward to getting together, and it is also the common wish of all Chinese sons and daughters, and I believe that it will not be too long before the Sons and Daughters of China on both sides of the Strait will meet under the same sky and talk about wine.
