With the permission of Ninji Gangcun, Iwamatsuyoshi of the Japanese North China Front, with the main troops and horses of his headquarters, mobilized the elite of other units and gathered more than 30,000 troops to attack several headquarters of the Eighth Route Army in the Taihang and Taiyue areas of Shanxi.
In addition to the frontal advance of the large army, the enemy also organized two special operations units, which quietly interspersed into our anti-Japanese base area and launched a surprise attack on the location of our army's headquarters.
In the face of the menacing enemy forces, Peng Dehuai and Zuo Quan of the same command decided to lead a team each and break through separately. Unfortunately, when Zuo Quan led the breakthrough, in order to cover the friendly forces, he was hit by enemy artillery fire and fell in a pool of blood on the spot, and General Zuo Quan, as the senior commander of the Eighth Route Army, was martyred.

General Zuo Quan dedicated his life to the country
Zuo Quan was born in Hunan Province, a fellow villager of Peng Dehuai, who helped his family with hard agricultural production since he was a child, herding cattle, raising pigs, and planting land. In 1915, Yuan Shikai agreed to the secret clause proposed by the Japanese ambassador to sell national sovereignty to Japan, and after the news was exposed, it aroused the anger of the people of the whole country, and Zuo Quan, who was still in elementary school, heard the news and angrily wrote down the language of not forgetting the shame of the Five-Nine Countries.

After joining the big family of our party, Zuo Quan found a group of close friends with common ideals, and from then on they worked together for the goal of saving the country and strengthening the country. In 1934, after the start of the Long March, Zuo Quan, as the vanguard, walked in front of the main force of the Red Army along with the vanguard troops, and after a series of battles such as Yuexi County, Dashubao Ferry, and Shanbao in northern Shaanxi, Zuo Quan's military ability was revealed.
After the outbreak of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, Zuo Quan was sent to the Eighth Route Army to work in the anti-Japanese base area on the first line of the Taihang Mountains because of his outstanding military ability; when Zuo Quan commanded the war against the Japanese Kou, he planned very carefully, and once used terrain and time factors to deploy an encirclement circle to annihilate more than 2,000 Japanese troops in World War I. At the same time, the consideration was also very meticulous when deploying the defensive plan, so that the enemy had no chance to take advantage of it, repelled several enemy attacks, and defended the Taihang Mountain anti-Japanese base area.
Because of Zuo Quan's meticulous and meticulous style, the central government decided to promote Zuo Quan to the position of deputy chief of the general staff to help commanders better and more exquisitely plan combat operations. At the same time, Zuo Quan, as one of the senior generals of our army, also attracted the attention of the Japanese army, and was included in the list of primary targets by the enemy commander, Iwamatsu Yoshikazu.

Among them, Iwamatsu Yoshikazu, one of the leaders of the Japanese Army's First Army, formulated a surprise attack operation code-named "C-type combat plan," planning that the main force and a small group of troops should advance at the same time, looking for the main force of our army to fight a decisive battle, and destroying the headquarters of our army, thus achieving the goal of paralyzing our army's organizational system.

Yan Songyixiong was the main commander of this operation and led the troops and horses of the headquarters, and then drew elite troops from other places to form a force of more than 30,000 people in size, and as a frontal force, they marched to the taihang and taiyue fronts, and this unit marched at a normal speed, and whenever it went to a place to set up camp, it dug deep trenches and set up police posts to prevent our army from making surprise attacks.
At the same time, we will continue to dispatch small units to walk in front of the large troops, reconnoiter the movements of the main forces of our army, and only after obtaining sufficient information will we march forward and never rush forward; once we discover the movements of our army, we will set up an offensive posture, slowly advance, and look for opportunities for a decisive battle with the main force of our army.
In the C battle plan, the high lethality is not to march according to the normal route of small-scale assassination units, in order to achieve the highest efficiency of assassination, Iwamatsu Yoshihari from each department to draw a strong individual combat ability of elite soldiers, Xu with generous rewards, the formation of two secret assassination units, called "advancing troops."

Each of them carried a large bag containing portable dry food such as drinking water and compressed biscuits, and the amount of weapons and ammunition that one person carried was enough to fight, and they did not rely on supply lines, nor did they set up camps, nor did they take the initiative to enter the village.
Iwamatsu Yoshihisa was full of confidence in this battle plan, and he firmly believed that the backward equipment of our army could not provide effective reconnaissance means, and the secret assassination unit would certainly be successful.

Although our army does not have high-tech intelligence acquisition tools such as reconnaissance aircraft, our army actually has an intelligence system with high reconnaissance efficiency, because our army adheres to the people's line.

Zuo Quan volunteered to lead a small number of troops, carrying livestock, radios, and other large materials to the dangerous East, Peng Dehuai objected, it turned out that Zuo Quan's decision was also well thought out, Peng Dehuai is one of the main generals of our army, if it is in trouble, it is bound to affect the overall morale of our army and is not conducive to the overall situation. In the end, Zuo Quan, as he had planned, separated from Peng Dehuai with a small number of police forces.
Because the left power department had to carry a large number of documents, radio stations and other materials, coupled with insufficient manpower, the transfer was very slow, and when they reached Liao County, they encountered the Japanese army.

At this time, a bomb exploded next to Zuo Quan, and General Zuo Quan never stood up again.

After this assassination, all the members of the Mashiko team who came to the meeting were killed, and the members of the assassination team retreated quickly under the arrangement, leaving no opportunity for the enemy to counterattack.
As soon as this incident came out, everyone in the secret assassination unit of the Japanese army was in danger, and even if they were afraid of the same retaliation one day, in desperation, Okamura Ningji ordered the secret assassination unit to be stopped.
